Maybe, but as long as the Pats go 19-0 this year, I won't mind. I mean it's cool if the Pats stay really competative but after such a huge year, especially if they manage to cap it off with a Super bowl win, it's hard to expect them to be able to repeat what they did this year.

lol just watched the highlights. right at the end he missed a safe field goal. he was lucky enough Favre threw an interception, otherwise I'm sure they would have won.

I hope your right overkill but I fear as long as Al Davis continues to interfer and hire yes men as coaches the Raiders will struggle.

I actually think the same mate. al davis needs to step down and I hope JMR is really as good as we all like to think.

by the way, on another (american) board somebody said 95% of the raider supporters were gangmembers :icon_mrgreen:

Yeh I'll be rooting for the Giants this time round - cant stand Tom Brady and the Pats.

Always been a Jets fan myself, play in green/white obviously, but when NFL first shown in UK back mid 80's I always recall they had the QB Ken O Brian, RB was Freeman McNeil and they had a couple of Kelly's, Kearney's and Kennedy's in their squad so I thought that's the team for me.

And I love NYC to absolute bits so I'll be hoping Manning can do the business.

Only * off factor is that all season these games kick off 6pm and 9:15pm on Sundays, now cos its Superbowl its about quarter to midnight before they kick off.

LOL well I certainly don't qualify as a gangmember. It is interesting how the Raiders seemed to be hated by so many different other teams.

I think Russell probably will be big time. But for me Al Davis is just killing the team. He had his day and he was a big part of what made the Raiders a great team originally. But now he has hung on to control way to long and all he does now is * the team and interfer constantly. He fires coaches on an almost yearly basis when what he needs to do is look in the mirror and fire himself.
Russell could be a great starting point for a Raider turnaround but the team needs a complete overhaul and that applies to the coaching side and to Al Davis stepping down and allowing a real coach to come in and take charge as well as an overhaul of the players.

Thanks for posting that clip overkill. I didn't know about all that going on. Unfortunately that just backs up my point in the post above and sadly it looks like Al Davis will continue to interfer and * any chance the Raiders have of being great again for some time yet. Gruden is the only coach who actually stood up to Davis and hung in there for a while. What does it take for this * control freak to get it into his head that he needs to step down. He is the problem.

He's really doing some massive harm and it's impossible to have a successfull team with such a maniac in the lead.

Kiffin says he hopes to return to Raiders during interview (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3216373)

I really like Kiffin and hope he continues working with the team, but nothing is for sure especially when I consider my first part of this post :54:

    According to a newspaper article:
In 2007 Davis sold a minority stake in the Raiders for $150 million and said that he would not retire until he wins two more Super Bowls :38:

The snap was botched, so he could hardly do better. But the winner was amazing, 47 yards out, I think it was the first 40+ FG at Lambeau Field against the Packers in postseason.

Tynes was the first guy to score points in the NFL outside of the USA, when he hit a FG against the Dolphins in London, but he said afterwards "I'd rather be taking penalty kicks for Celtic." :celt_2:

Come on Giants in the SB.

How about a compromise and Davis retires after the Raiders win 2 more games:50: * that might take a while too!

I agree with you about Kiffin. I hope he stays as coach. At least he showed some promise this season and he isn't just rolling over for Davis.

Yeah sorry overkill but the raiders are a joke because of al davis. They used to be well respected with a great owner but now he's just delusional.

I think because hes so old, he wants to see a super bowl win. So he is very impatient even though being so impatient is whats making them a joke.

I heard on ESPN a few days ago about how they make the players were used practice equipment which would never happen at any other nfl club. lowering the morale etc.

Al Davis seems to be older than time itself. he's almost 80 and comes across like a totalitarian. he should be true to himself and step down.
