How longs left on his contract?

If he's outta contract at the end of the year or only has another to run, then surely a small fee or loan to buy would be worthwhile..

This is traditionally Lawwell's main aim in January . Remember Mowbray's season we were calling for heads at Christmas and we were temporarily pacified with Robbie Keane , Kamara and Braffheid from Bayern .

Yea but at least those deals were to try help us win the title. Loan deals this January do absolutely nothing for us.

Not really. We need to start being proactive with CL qualifiers in mind.

Bringing Aiden back for a few months with no chance of buying him at the end of the season would be utterly pointless and would have us back at square one again, probably having to bring an unhappy player back into the team who had lost his place to McGeady.

A loan would only be to appease the support in the short term. In fact, I can very well see that being the case.

Yeah we really do. The last transfer window was abysmal and tbh strengthened us in no real way at all. We need to shed some deadwood (what's new?) and get in proper reinforcements for the Summer. I highly doubt we'll do good business though, this is modern day Celtic after all.

With regards to McGeady, we should have gone in for him in the Summer. I don't think its too late though, in the nicest way possible he's been a flop for Everton. He needs to go to a club where he is guaranteed game time. The difference between Aiden on form and confident with how he has been at Everton is staggering. Bring him home Ronny ffs.

trickery's nice but such frustration when he hits the by-line and cant cross the fk'n ball, then goes n tries to beat the man hes just skinned again.... in my opinion a winger should be able to cross the ball.

play him in the hole behind the "one up top" who does he drop for that to succeed pointless signing hes had his time here... and still canny cross the ball....

and to be perfectly honest Ronny prob sees him as a holding mid.... (tongue in cheek)

infact if this was to go through, i dont even see Ronny having a say either way, looks like a * attempt at appeasing the fans..

There is no chance of getting him, unless he drops his wage s, by a huge amount, says Dilia, see below. And of course herein lies the problem facing Celtic and other clubs. if you are any good, then a player will most likely want to test his skills at a higher level and this combined with a huge salary increase is why Celtic will have difficulty in holding onto good players or buying good new players

    =============================================

"We have tried before to get those types of players but they get three times the salary at other places," said Deila. "It’s also more interesting for them to play in England than Scotland. It’s tough and you never say never but it’s a different planet when you talk salaries. We would not be able to pay the salary that the likes of McGeady are on. The difference is so unbelievably big that’s there is no chance. The wage structure would be broken 10 times if we did that!"

You can disagree with the policy of loans but being '* raging' because we've loaned someone we couldn't currently afford the outlay on (if that is the case) would be bizarre!

For the record I'd only be happy with a loan where the option to buy is set in stone.

Don't see the point in the loan, we don't need players for the league.

If he fancies himself as a Celtic man then he will take a pay cut and sign a contract (if we put up the transfer fee).

If some of our fans find the thought of Aiden McGeady returning to Celtic Park to be pointless, they need to go and spend a couple hours watching old videos of our games. He is a special talent and if he even plays one more game for Celtic, we would be improved.

stpauli 1916, glad you like my style, i try to please, happy me
i think you will find there are still a number of folk who think that players like Aiden would come back and play for Celtic, maybe something to do with the glory of playing for a big team, still forgetting that players are out for the ££££ and who can blame them, the question is, which EPL team is willing to to take a gamble on him, Everton certainly didn't like the look of him.

This . They will always follow the money , and as you say its hard to argue with . If your 29 and know you have three or four years of earning potential for the rest of your life you are gunna make sure you get as much as you can . Folk that say " he's aleady rich " , also need to realise wealth is very very relative . People will always want more.
