How would any of us know if Ronny will be backed? :smiley-laughing002:

My guess is that he will bring in one or two players, probably on loan and send some players out on loan. We need to reduce our squad. Quality over quantity and all that.

Fair enough. Aul contracts are murky enough though but in my experience in Europe anyway they tend to favour the employee over the employer. If you are under contract then I would say that there is a strong argument for the status quo remaining. Id say its very fightable though. Maybe not if you are under contract and earning but if you are a free agent and this rule is stopping you from working then its a different story.

He will be. The board either need to back him or sack him, and it appears they're sticking with him.

Sticking with him, doesn't necessarily mean there going to back him either.

I guarantee that he get's money to spend in the window. I'd be willing to bet my house on it.

Depends what you mean by backed. He'll get some money to spend but I would be surprised if it was over £3m and wouldn't be at all shocked if it was significantly less. For the first time in a while I don't have any gripes with the board for holding back funds this window either.

I have no confidence at all about this transfer window but I hope I'm wrong. A centre back, a defensive midfielder and a striker please. No more attacking midfielders unless it's a winger. With only 2 million quid it has to be a few bosmans but quality can still be found in that market. I wouldn't be against a loan if it was a top player like McGeady etc. We need something to get the fans back at the stadium. Too many fans don't give a * and can't be arsed going to the games anymore, it's up to the board to change that.

He should be backed. But he has had three transfer windows so far, and overall he has not been backed (or allowed his own signings).

As for the conversation regarding Europe laws and player employment, I think I am right in saying that a player can sign and get paid(work) for who ever and how ever many clubs he wants. It is his professional playing registration that is blocked, meaning he can't play a professional game covered by uefa rules.
Same goes for transfer bans, current ones being the two lads signed for barcelona arda turan has been working at Barcelona but not allowed to play a uefa official match.

So in essence, no working issues regards employment and free movement have been breached, but as uefa and its member leagues are a private club in essence, the ban stands.

Has he shown enough intelligence in the transfer market to be trusted with the investment the squad needs.

For me the jury is out on Ronny and most of his signings. The club would be foolish to give Ronny a big transfer budget and I'd imagine PL will be dictating policy as usual.

I'm not expecting big things in this window.

The team badly needs investment, specifically in experience and leaders in key positions. A CDM who can work and put in a shift when brown is out. A CB who can organise a back four. A winger who can take players on and link up the striker and the no. 10.

What we'll actually get will be a couple of loans who don't make the team and an 18 year old we've never heard of. Whether you blame the board, manager or scout team for that is a personal viewpoint, but for me we've been making the same mistakes on and off the park for 2-3 years now and still haven't learned from them so I'm not hopeful :54:

How much is the question though, there's backing then there's a proper backing.

The thing is he's made 19 or 20 signings , that's a large influx of personnel and the majority were not good, and as you say the jury is out on a few others. He can not be trusted to spend money wisely .
