Hello, I'm just curious if any of you have ever changed your first name? If so, how did people react and how were people with adjusting to it?

    Thanks

Not changed it but , the name I am known as by 97% of folk is not my real first name. I was named after my grandfather who ibelieve had the same problem.

So the name on my passport, drivers licence etc is the name I'm known as. But, it's not the name on my birth certificate.

Confuses me never mind other people........... Feckin Irish :56:

    Well, sir

I changed my name 14 months ago (unofficially) and people I know have adjusted to calling me by said name since then. However, now that I've gotten round to finally making it official - the reality of the situation has come to me and I'm unsure if I'm happy with said name.

So I was wondering what other people's experiences with a name change were. Having only had a seemingly straight forward transition myself, but now maybe an awkward new one...

Why the * would you be bothered? Unless your name is Dicklicker McNab or something it just seems pointless.

Wouldn't really call that a 'name change' though would you. More of a * change

My wife is in the process of doing this just now.
My step daughter actually encouraged her to do this.
There is so much damned official paperwork to get through.

Changed my name about 27 years ago....all i did was write to everyone(bank, council ect) and informed them i was no longer mr smith but from now on i was mr black.

That was it really....even changing passport and driving licence were straight forward.

Of course there may be new laws now.
