Daniel Van Buyten

Honestly the more I think about it the more excited I am. If this is true and not agent b/s than our back 4 goes from weak to very impressive with this transfer season. Van Buyten is a quality CB, remember his 2 goals against AC Milan last CL. So he will help us offensively. And also he's tall. And from what I saw of Bayern last season in the CL he looked good. Dont know why hes not playing this year but w/e. Would still be great for us.

And a hidden gem behind all this is that Strachan wouldnt start caldwell!!!!!!!!!!!

Van Buyten is no better than McManus imo but no doubt both would form a formidable partnership.

 

Hes not cup tied for Cl as bayern here never in it and we could add 1 player that palyed in the uefa cup into are Cl squad

 

Rubbish. Van Buyten's positioning is excellent (McManus's is erratic), the Belgians got more experience and he's better in the air. I like McManus and he's got good potential but Van Buyten is the kinda player he'd learn from not teach.

 

I seen this on the back page of "The Hun" today, would be a good signing, definitely.

I was wondering, cause I noticed someone mention his name on her yesterday, then all of a sudden its all over the paper. Was thinking that either theres a journo on here feeding us little tidbits, or theres a bored journo on here looking for us to write his paycheque for him !!!

Either way, hope its true, would definitely be a hit in the SPL.

 

I think van buyten would be a great signing and would form a great partnership at the back with McManus. However I dont believe Celtic will pay 4 million for him as Bayern are not desperate to sell him.

hes definately an excellent CB but this is just a rumour...so far , lets hope something comes of it

 

nah, celtic have been in touch so hes a target, not a solid target as of yet but its a step in the right direction- away from rumours

 

i agree i think PL has been great for the celtic the last few months,

and i seriously hope this van Buyten does sign for us.

Boruc,Brown,McGeady,naka,hinkel,(Mizuno,Van Buyton) what a team

 

he is a good defender. used to play almost as a sweeper but is more solid nowadays whle still able to pass and attack when up the other end. he is a very good player but omar hitzfield (bayern coach) thought demichellis had more youth and vigour next to the ageing lucio this season so he has lost his place. would be a good addition imo.

if we got him we would have CL experience in van Buyten and Vennegoor of Hesselink plus those who have played in it 2 years running eg. mick/boruc/naylor/naka. we would also have a solid defence, creativity in midfield and a good strike partenership up front. brown, mick and naylor will keep the grit needed to make a tackle plus donati in europe, where he is viewed as a good tackler. strach seems to building for the european stage as well as the spl and after trial and error (gravesen especially) he is buying the players we need. just hope it actually comes to pass.

I mentioned him m8 a few weeks ago and again yesterday.There was a thread on here about a replacement for Bobo.My sugestions was Thomas Ujfalusi and Daniel Van Buyten.

I am not a journo as you put it but these two guys are available just remember reading about them somewere.Maybe WGS has been looking on here for ideas.
