Lads, i'm taking the missus to Glasgow for her first ever visit at the end of february. I've been there a few times but usually only for a day trip to see the match and home again. I decided to take her away for 2 main reasons. 1. I got dirt cheap flights and hotel on ryanair. 2. theres a home match that weekend. I would appreciate any tips as to good celtic pubs in city centre and good places to visit. We are staying in the quality hotel in city centre.(probably a dump, but hey it was cheap). also, will it be easy enough to get tickets for match v inverness on the day or should i book them in advance. and whats the best way to get to celtic park from there? appreciate any help. thanks.

Get the number 62 bus that's heading for Baillieston, goes right along Argyle Street, and takes you outside the ground. The Quality Hotel is not bad, right next to Central Station.

As for Celtic pubs, most of them along the Gallowgate are middens that are best avoided. Best going to somewhere like O'Neills or somewhere. Also, you will be able to get tickets outside the ground, but my advice is to book them online at the Celtic website, so you can pick where you want to sit. North Stand upper restricted view is a good shout, slightly cheaper, and you get a cracking view at the top of the stadium, though there are poles which only obstruct a tiny bit of your view.

    Well man,
Try Failte's pub which is near enough Central Station (I think), and I'd definitely recommend the Gallowgate or the Gorbals (Brazen Head... not the area!). I've only ever drunk in McGinns, Tolbooth and the Brazen though.

Oh and how much was the hotel if you don't mind me asking? Let me know if it's any good when you're back n all.

Mate, not meaning to keep coming up with something to rain on the parade, but the Inverness game is on the Wed Nite.

It's not for a while so you could probably change your flights and hotel without any hassle/fees.

    Hello Everyone,

I just found out that my wife and I will be in Glasgow as well during the Inverness match. This will also be the first time we will be attending a football match in europe and so we are a little new to the ticket purchasing process for a big club.

Are you expecting this game to be a sellout? If not, when do you think the game will be available for general sale?

I also have a Celtic jersey that I would like to wear for the match. Will that get me in trouble at the pubs or with the hools?

Any information would be greatly appreciated and please continue posting more information on pubs and places to visit. Thank you all in advance for the tips.

should be able to get a ticket for the game no probs if not order online and pick up at the ticket office.
wear a jacket over your hoodie, some pubs wont let you in wearing football colours

    Thanks for the info. McGee.

Someone else posted to stay away from the pubs at Gallowgate. We want to be around the singing and fanfare at the pubs, but want to stay away from the riff-raff. Should we avoid Gallowgate?
