Do you think we'll actually go the full season without Griffiths picking up a few knocks, needing subbed or rested in any way? We've really only got two strikers because Romny doesn't view Stokes as one he'll get plenty of opportunities.

    I went with "yes".

I think he'll be useful, more than anything. I've not seen anything in his time at United or so far at Celtic to suggest he'll be anything more than that. I think consistency might be an issue with him.

That is exactly why I am making the point I am making. If Griff keeps his spot then he will find it hard to get going. Then in the event of an injury and he comes in, he will be under a lot of pressure. Playing the both of them in the short term, just for a couple of matches like, will do Ciftci the world of good. Then if we do need him to come in then he has already got over the hurdles that new strikers have to get over.

Look at his goals per game ratio, it honks. If you play this guy as a striker he has to score goals but cant

    Aye, think he will.

Was glad we signed him, and still glad we have.

I think once he gets into the swing of things he'll come good.

Yeah, just probably not as good as we need him to be.

Not been overly impressed with him so far but think he will improve given game time. he has goals in him and I fancy him to become a decent player for us.

I think among the fans he will be the next Stokes.

Gets goals and assists in SPL, maybe not so many in Europe and then fans will get on his back about his record in Europe.

I didn't see much of him before he came to us, and he obviously has only had limited opportunities in the last few weeks. However I worry that he may be at his best when part of a two man strike force, and that's really not likely to happen anytime soon.

So I have to question the wisdom of signing him. Hope he proves me wrong.

I can't remember him ever playing as anything other than a lone striker for Dundee Utd.

Ciftci is a perfect player for a lone striker, exactly what you want in a lone striker, his style of play suits it to a T. It's just ig we can get the required level of performances out of him.

Iv seen him raise his game and give VvD and Denayer problems so i think he will come good for us.
Hes not an out and out scorer though but i would expect 20 goals a season from him in the SPFL.

As I said I didn't see much of him before he came, so you're probably right. However in the few games I have seen him for us, he hasn't really looked the part of a lone striker. I was thinking he may need a partner, but it could be he just needs time.

He was literally bought to play in the lone striker role. And he will. There is no harm playing him off Griff though for the next 3 or 4 domestic games. It will take the pressure off of him not being the main man. And then when he is settled hopefully with a few wee goals, it is business as usual.

What we dont need is for him to get limited game time and to go on a goal drought. Then down the line if we do need him to come into the team then his confidence may be low. Playing him as part of a top two is for his own benefit and by extension our teams.

Our manager is stubborn though and often makes choices that hinder our team. I look for worst case scenarios and how to nip them in the bud. I really wish that Ronny would do the same. Playing him in a partnership could nip one of those cases I am talking about.

If he starts scoring without playing in a top two then happy days. Nothing to worry about. By hook or by crook he needs to get a goal or two before this situation snowballs. Why not give him a helping hand by playing him off Leigh for a few games?

People are going on a out his goalscoring, what was it? 16/17 last season and he hardly scored after the first 6 months due to us ripping the Dundee United team apart?

At which point stil getting 16/17 goals in 6 months aint shabby and shows there is something there providing we can get to it.

He is a usefull player and he will score goals. He done well in the European games. His ban was a disaster though. If he bangs a few in it will be grand. But we now face a situation where he is looking to get off the mark. This is not good for anybody. Why not give him a helping hand to get settled?

Look at his goals from last season, his composure is unreal, he definitely has a helluva lot of building blocks to work on. It's the instinctual goals that we need to get into him, the gambling for the ball to break in the box etc.

Right now he's more likely to round the keeper and stick it in the top corner than one of those shabby ones that bounce off 3 players and goes in off his knee.

Because it's not a helping hand, then you'll have him also trying to get used to a role that he's not played for at least two years anyway. With the rest of the team doing the same.

Think I read somewhere he's only scored 30 odd goals in his whole professional career, is that true?
