That's a good shout. He's certainly not going to be a regular contributor for us this season.

We've just signed too many similar players.

In January we could have (for the 3 positions behind the striker):

Forrest, GMS, Armstrong, Commons, Johansen, Rogic, Christie, Allan, McGregor and Stokes.

Yet we only have two strikers right now. Not very good management that.

I expected Stokes and McGregor to be away by now as well..wonder if that will happen in January.

Quite an average bunch that as well on the whole(at this moment anyway, plenty of time for some of those to reach potential)

It says alot that I still believe we need a better quality, natural number 10 and two natural wingers as well, on top of that list.

    Really?

I think that, on their game, that's a very decent group of players. Albeit I think we need another proper winger.

    Armstrong Johansen Forrest

If all three of them are on form then it's a pretty exciting trio. Mind you, I'd still rather see Armstrong through the middle and another winger on the left.

Well, I like Armstrong and Johansen alot.

I'm still unconvinced by Forrest though, never been a fan of his albeit he is showing some better form lately.

Commons' record is hard to argue with. When he has games like he did against Hamilton though he isn't half frustrating as * to watch.

I think we can still improve that area significantly. I don't think Scotland is the place to be looking now though, we have bought enough in the past 10 months.

I think he and henderson are our longer term replacements for Johansen and Commons

In response to some other reckless posts... in no way shape or form do I think we signed him to "keep him away" from sevco.

That being said, Im currently very concerned at our recent signings.

Now Im a believer of the "Deila Philosophy"; that every player can be made to reach an unknown level of great potential given the right encouragement and training...

Ronny has also stated on two separate occasions that he wants to sign and develop scottish players and encourage a climate of good scots staying in scotland...

But i just dont see this philiosphy being properly applied in the current state. Its ot realsitic and doesnt fit our supposed model of "signing and developing".

We've taken 3 players of DUTD (soon to be 4 if reports are accurate) and not one of them IMO deserve a first team slot.

Dont get me wrong, Im hopeful they will come good in the SPL as great squad players. But none of them can cut it as a man that opposition managers in Europe will point out as someone to be feared.

The point is.... Im utterly confused as to what we are about these days....

Is it developing players for profit whilst simultaneously maintaining a good showing in Europe?

Is it signing up the "star" players from other SPL sides to ensure our dominance?

Is it weathering some sort of financial storm that will inevitably come?

If anyone thinks we signed Jozo for 5M they need to put down the crack pipe.

    Im not trolling, I swear..

I would just like someone to explain to me how we are moving forward as a club.

You don't think Stuart Armstrong deserves to be in the starting eleven??

I hope he proves me wrong but I thought Allan was vastly over-hyped by the media when at Hibs.

    Two opinions on the boy.
Every home game almost up to kick off his interface with the fans is excellent, nothing appears to much trouble in regard to autographs , photos, selfies etc so Scott is already proving to be a good ambassador for the club.
A opinion I share with the majority of the fans around me is that without Kris Commons guile and ability to provide the killer ball to unlock tight defences we are not as good a team and I am confident that in Scott Allan we have acquired the player to deputise and eventually replace him :bbpd::bbpd:

Agree with a lot of this..

Do think though that we will reap the benefits of having European class Scots when this core reach maybe 26/27.

It's probably the hard way round opposed to bringing in foreign 'unpolished gems' but I believe we have a responsibility, as by far the biggest club in Scotland, to nurture the talent of young Scottish players to the highest level possible.

When you look at the short term i.e. the next season and a half, it doesn't look as promising as it has under previous regimes. Though, I believe that 3 seasons down the line we will have a great core of talented Scots players who could further bring us 6-10 more seasons of their career through perhaps loyalty and incentive that foreign imports might not have for playing for us.

I think if you want to understand how the club is going forward you have to look at the long term. Like any philosophy it has it's risks. Further, I believe that this way of doing things would offer great stability for the club in the years to come.

The future is green and white :shamrock: !
