Motherwell V Celtic postponed.

Motherwell V Celtic game nxt sunday has been postponed by request of Phil O'Donnells family according to Setanta Sports news.

 

I can understand how the family feel but if this match was to go ahead it would be a very apt opportunity for both clubs together with the supporters to pay a real tribute to Phil O Donnell

 

anything that is asked should be given

 

Although appreciating that the clubs & fans want to honour his memory this has to be in line with what his family wants.

First & foremost a wife and 4 young kids have lost their husband & dad - they have to mourn in private until they feel the time is right.

Although he will be very fondly remembered by our club and fans as a great player and person, to Motherwell FC he was a huge part of their history, present and future - an absolute legend. I totally agree with the postponement.

Also see the Gretna "home" match at Fir Park on Wednesday has been postponed.

 

at this time football means nothing although football in itself will help heal the wounds

 

Whenever this match is re-scheduled for, you can be sure that it will be a very emotional game for both sets of supporters.
Hopefully something special can be organised between the clubs to make sure Phil's career is celebrated in a fitting manner.

 

Totally agree but families wishes will have to come first. Would probably be too much for them that soon.

why didint we play the game n both clubs give the gate money n any other money raised to the family or put it in a trust fund for the kids

 

I wonder when Motherwell will play again, could be a while and i think they will fall down the table now, they will be devestated

 

hopefully they go the other way and really push it in memory of phil although right now none of this matters
