Andreas Hinkel is closing in on a move to Scottish champions Celtic after admitting his frustration at a lack of opportunities with Sevilla.

The German international has rarely figured for the two-time defending UEFA Cup holders this season and is eager to leave the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Hinkel is reported to have agreed personal terms with the Hoops and claims "now it is down to the clubs to speak" in order to agree a transfer fee which is expected to be in the region of £2million.

The 25-year-old defender has opted to move on after failing to oust Brazil international Daniel Alves from the right-back position.

"I have not had the opportunities to demonstrate my ability here," said Hinkel, who joined Sevilla from Stuttgart in June 2006.

"Everything is good here, the people, the club and the team but I am not happy on the bench, I need to play."

He added in Spanish sports daily Marca: "The first season was good as I played 13 games in the league, eight in the UEFA Cup and five in the Copa del Rey but this year, despite working hard in the summer, I have barely played at all."

 

A 3 year contract smacks of non-commitment IMO.This gives him the upper hand if he ever wants to leave because the length of the contract.Coupled with the fact that we are his second choice,it's not encouraging.

 

not at all i think he will be coming here with alot to prove and even if we do only get three years out of him i think we can ake a buck

 

We won't be able to get a transfer fee for a player who is proven international quality.I hope I'm wrong though.
