For those who are in love.....
Larsson is the best striker I've ever seen on the shoulder, not lightening quick but had 2/3 yards on anyone with his cleverness. I used to love how he would anticipate back passes and headers and score goals like that giving the keeper and defenders no chance to react, it was too late. He scored loads like that and his variety of finishing is up there with anyone..

A phenomenal player, Aguero is world class but bias or not, henrik for me..

Aguero is a fantastic forward, pretty much carries City in Europe.

    Larsson is a *.

Can't really compare them because they competed in different era's.

And cop out of the year goes to... :smiley-laughing002:

Of course you can compare them. They're both strikers.

Well yeah you can compare them as strikers, they're both great of the shoulder, can both score goals on their own and can both finish. At the time they played they were both within the top 5 in the world in their position. Very few teams wouldn't have started Larsson if they had had him imo and possibly only Barca right now wouldn't start Aguero.

I just think you can't say who was better because they played in different teams at different times.

That's the same with almost every comparison.. But we can do our best :icon_mrgreen:

Aguero for me is brilliant when he has the ball at his feet and is sprinting at a defense. He terrorises them and he's absolutely lethal in front of goal.

Larsson I feel had more guile and a better understanding of the game, but wasn't quite as good with the ball at his feet running at a defense.

It is close to be fair to Henrik but I have to say I do think Aguero is better. Laughable those * over on bluemoon :smiley-laughing002: did Rooney not say Larsson is the best striking partner he's ever had?

It's a close one, but when you consider everything that goes into being a professional footballer (no slight against Aguero - he's very professional, especially for the modern game) then it has to be Henrik.

The opinions of other professional players such as Buffon saying that he feared coming up against Larsson as much as he does C.Ronaldo says a lot. Larsson was a truly world class footballer and while I'm not knocking Aguero's ability, Larsson was a better player. He didn't just play well himself, he inspired other players around him to play better, brought players into games, had incredible link up play, great in the air, could score with either foot, great technique, good pace and was strong. His intelligence in movement was incredible. It all came so naturally to him. He could have left Celtic and played in a more difficult league but he always stated that the Scottish league was never as weak as people made out.

I am a real admirer of Aguero, and physically he edges it but in terms of footballing intelligence Larsson wins. I've rarely witnessed such a prolific forward with such incredible awareness of the options around him allied to the ability to find the right option 99% of the time. Aguero would probably rattle in 60+ a season up here but so would Larsson against the Scottish prems teams of today. Larsson all day long for me.
