The Sun reports today that we've supposedly taken him on trial, anyone know if he is any good?

They're saying he is a player in the same mould as Lubo, any truth to any of this?

Available on a free transfer apparently too.

Read a few articles about him, seems to be a bit of a playmaker, i assume Strachan is maybe looking into bringing in a player who is gonna deputise for Stan Petrov then?

Think he really needs to bring in a player who will be able to deputise for Neil Lennon as well.

I don't think Petrov is really a play maker. I know a lot of people think of him as an "attacking" midfielder, but is he really? I see him as being the natural succesor to Lennon in the holding role. I don't think his passing abilty or vision is good enough for a playmakers role, but he has a great engine, and a good burst of acceleration, and is not bad in the tackle. Thing is we currently have Lennon, and he's not going to be dropped, and Stan is too good to be left on the bench so it's proved difficult to accomodate someone who is more attacking in a central midfield berth. It was tried last year at times with thompson in the middle, but he never quite pulled it off. Ideally we would have had someone quicker on the turn, and with a bit more pace...

Belmadi has played for PSG, Marsaille and Celta Vigo. If he isn't fit enough after playing in the Emirates GS doesn't have to sign him or even pay him a penny as he is on trial. If he likes the look of him, great! As we can get him for nothing.

Man City supposedly tried to sign him last year permanently, but they failed...he is meant to be a decent player

I watch the spanish league alot and can tell you when he played for celta vigo (brief spell) that he is an ambitius player who likes to try things but isn't much of a team player and is not willing to do his share of defensive work

P.S. If he doesn't score from outside the box in pre-season i'll eat my hat

Here's hoping WGS has a better time with trialists than MON.
Corridon and De La Pena have both gone on to prove useful players at their respective clubs, I have the feeling that Juninho killed Corridons hopes of a contract.
Lets have a look at him on trial, hopefully he'll get a couple of pre-season games to show what he can do. We badly need an attacking option from midfield.

Im not fond of bringing players in on trial after last seasons fiasco.

I don't know anything about this player but WGS should give him the once over and if he thinks he good enough, I will accept that until I see him play :p

Being doing a bit of a mooch about and this guy looks quite a decent player with an excellent array of skills! The guy Corridon ended up looking a good player and i seen him score a bullet for PSG in europe.

Bombjack,I totally agree on Petrov.I think playing him in the defensive midfield position would be a great option. He might need to be a bit more disciplined but he could still get forward from there and score a few goals when required, something Lenny is unlikely to do despite his other excellent attributes.Or what about Pearson in the defensive position?

Fairly new to this site, only posted a couple of times previously and got into an argument!!! On my best behaviour now.

No I never went, my daddy is a taxi driver for Value Cabs and he was lucky enough to pick him up :84:
He was apologising to him for losing the league and said that he was very disappointed in Jacie Mac because he walked straight after his testimonal, and he was also saying that Celtic couldn't afford to bring in both Bellamy and Zuraw, and they were holding off to get Bellamy hence the delay in Zuarw's deal.

Algeria international Djamel Belmadi has reportedly moved on to Wigan Athletic in his search for a new club.

Belmadi had been training with Celtic earlier in the week but speculation claims the 29-year-old is now on trial at The JJB Stadium.

The Latics are determined to strengthen their squad ahead of their Premiership debut and Belmadi could add experience to the club's ranks.

He previously spent half a season in England with Manchester City, while the playmaker also enjoyed four years with French giants Marseille.

The African has been playing in Qatar with Al Ittihad but would be allowed to leave the Middle East on a free transfer.

Bhoys boss Gordon Strachan had been assessing Belmadi during training but appears to have decided he is not the type of player he requires. Strachan, though, is thought to have recommended Belmadi to his Wigan counterpart Paul Jewell, who will run the rule over the schemer in the coming days.
