    Big season for Mikael Lustig. Under 100 games for us after a few seasons here and he turns 29 in December. Praying Janko is equipped to take the demands of fighting on all fronts (assuming we qualify for the CL).

    Lustig/Janko Boyata/Ambrose Van Dijk/Mulgrew Izaguirre/Tierney
    Brown/Henderson Bitton/Rogic
    Mackay-Steven/Forrest Johansen/Commons Armstrong/Stokes
    Griffiths/Scepovic

    Looking at that ideally you want a centre half, left back, goalkeeper, striker and a winger.

    Deadwood to shift with potentially other squad players out too :-

    I could see us lining up like that next season, think it looks very exciting.

    If we don't get either McGeady or Ciftci then switch them for Armstrong and Griffiths.

    What are we if not average? I don't want to be gloomy, but Mulgrew is better than Boyata and Stokes and Griffiths are our best options up front. You could maybe put in Armstrong or GMS for Commons, but it wouldn't really improve the team very much.

    It's quite impressive you can make that statement, obviously you're an expert on Boyata? ..

    Stokes has proved last season that he is better out wide for us in Deila's system.

    I see that as our strongest starting 11.

    Mulgrew will come in for Virgil and play centre back when we sell him after the qualifiers.

    So you've made up your mind on Boyata?

    Stokes should be nowhere near our starting eleven. If we are going to progress as a team, we have to move on from him. We already have to be honest.

    Commons is a decent option to have but he shouldn't be starting games.

    If Van Dijk goes id want him replaced by another centre-back who is signed to be first choice.

    Scepovic, I like but if Ronny only see's him as a back-up and doesnt see him starting then i'd let him go and sign a striker who is being brought in as a first choice.

    I'm assuming Van Dijk is leaving by the end of August, we will need to find someone else for centre half, especially if we qualify for the CL.

    We still need to strengthen. Ideally I'd like to see..

    McGeady
    Ciftci/Hooper whoever at striker brought in, looks like Ciftci.
    Left back
    Defensive minded midfielder
    Centre half

    Before the end of the window. Do I think we will see all of that? No.
    The two most likely to happen would be McGeady and Ciftci, with that in mind my matchday squad would be..

    Bench: Fasan, Janko, Mulgrew, Armstrong, Commons, Ciftci, Scepovic.​


    In the long run, I'd like us to continue to try and replace Ciftci/Griffiths/Scepovic with that illusive better quality striker. I still think Hooper or Vossen is the answer but both look unlikely.
