    These days it would be terrorism.

    The days of large scale land invasions from countries in the Western world are mostly drawing to a close.

    I really doubt we'll even see another invasion like we had in Iraq/Afghanistan. Wars involving developed Nations are going to start getting a lot less up close and personal in the future.

    I think the Irish Army should exist, however. But to be honest, I dont really share my views on that island anymore. I am no longer really connected to the place at all. It holds a warm, soft spot in my memory, and that is all.

    There are enough problems where I live today, and in my personal life. But I've always wished Ireland the absolute best, always will.

    The only nation state that has or would attack Ireland - is Britain.

    I'd like to see the defence force disbanded,once Ireland is reunified,and the army of The Republic is established.

    They are no more the Irish army than the Limerick contos.

    They are a civic policing force in the command of NATO. They do nothing in Ireland, if they wanted to do something they could clean up Limerick right enough!

    The bigger problem in my opinion is the gombeen men in government who pay their wages and direct their actions.

    Can we disband Enda Kenny?

    Just further on the original point, I wouldn't call them the Irish Army, because they call themselves the Irish Defence Forces. Moreover, they were * nowhere to be seen when the Irish people in Derry and Belfast were getting killed by British imperialists and planters.

    Some army, not the army of the people and certainly not of the republic.

    Are you serious ? Of course the armed forces that represent the republic of Ireland didn't engage in the conflict of the north :rolleyes: it's a different country, that would be an act of war...
