With the Barça presidential elections starting to heat up, one candidate comes off with this:

Agusti Benedito, who has argued that Barca are effectively supporting global terrorism by aligning themselves with a government which has been accused of providing funding for the Islamic State group.

Favourite to top the polls is former president Joan Laporta. He's promised to remove Qatar Airways & put UNICEF back on the front of the shirt. Eric Abidal would also become sporting director. He'd have a chat with Paul Pogba on a possible move, Laporta said he can't promise the signing but he would try.

Benedito also rounded on Bartomeu after Bartomeu had said that the Neymar case was "not much". Benedito insisted: "It's fraud!" Although he is a committed Catalan independentist he was the only one to sign off with a "Visca free Catalunya!" Benedito says that the club will not be used politically because "we have to respect that we have fans who do not feel the same way." He went on to say the Youth System needs stregthened as not many players come from it up to the first team as they have done in previous years.

Though there is absolutely no chance Benedito will win this election.

Early polls suggest Josep Maria Bartomeu is set to win Barcelona presedential election. TV3 reporting Bartomeu has won the election with around 49.5% of the votes. Joan Laporta (36.6%), Benedito (7.8%) and Frexia (4.8%)

If Bartomeu wins this will be an incredible victory, given Laporta had some major figures on his side Cryuff, Abidal & Pique for starters. Good few of the Barça players wanted Laporta to return. Results expected in around 23:00-00:00. Barça fans at the moment are in absolute meltdown.

 

Barcelona: Josep Bartomeu wins second term as club president


Josep Maria Bartomeu has been re-elected as Barcelona president for a second term, beating former president Joan Laporta in Saturday's election.
Barcelona said on their television channel that Bartomeu received 54.63% of the votes cast by club members.

Was hoping that Laporta would win that race, not a fan of Bartomeu.

 

Sergi Samper is a cracking wee player , watched him a few times for Barca B last couple of years and he always looks quality. Hopefully see him more involved in the first team this season.

 

Samper was linked to Arsenal today. Doubt they will let him leave though.
