Barry Robson, decent signing for less than a million or just another Scottish player who will be destined to lay in the reserves?

For me I've always thought we've looked light on the wings as Deek was clearly not a left winger so if he is cheap back-up that we know can play well in the SPL I'm for it.

he would be a decent squad player. But he isnt going to transform the team or anything. He would be useful back up for the wide left rather than some hammer thrower like JJ.

What position is he?

 

he can play anywhere across the midfield but he is left side and can play wide left. He has a lovely left peg and a great shot. Lacks pace though so not a winger as such. Would be a sort of Thommo type player.

 

if he's got no pace get him to *. we need another winger with pace

If Robson signs it will be a joke and I for one will not be happy.We need three or four decent profile players with winning attitudes not someone used to losing at Dundee Utd.

 

Keep buying average mediocre SPL players and ye become a mediocre SPL side..

Why give Bjarnasson a new deal and then sign this clogger in front of him?...if it happens of course

we are a medicore spl side full of medicore spl select players ,caseing point sunday just past we had 5 players signed from other spl teams and a young guy plying his trade,
so theres no excuses now when we do bad or not playing well ,it seems to me round about the transfer window and a player from another spl side has played well for 2/3 games celtic are linked with them

 

Think we had 6 and Killen and Riordan too as subs ,...not sure i quite understand your post but if your saying that this team is getting found out at the moment,i agree with you..

 

Totally agree re the high profile pish. It takes a certain type of attitude to handle the pressure at Celtic and also to cut it in the SPL.

It shouldn't matter if a guy plays for AC Milan or Albion Rovers - if he has the ability and attitude then get him signed!!!

Although if we could add 5 Kakas to the current team I wouldn't be complaining

 

Totally agree, what we are talking about here is a player who has forced his way into the Scotland squad at Dundee Utd after 3 years good performances. If we can pick him up for under 1m, and i've heard mention that he has a get out clause of maybe 750k then it will be a good signing as we won't have to pay him top dollar in wages.

We don't need to bring in new first choice players on the wings because Celtic can't afford to buy players who are better than McGeady and Naka. But if they get injured then bringing in a guy we know can perform very well in the SPL is good back-up. Rather save our cash for positions where we do need to bring in first choice players (ie defence).

The whole pish that was on Real Radio about our team being an SPL select side. Listen to what the board and WGS have been saying since he took over. The plan is to bring through youth players and signing SPL players augmented by a few high quality foreigners. Our problem last week wasn't because of players coming from the SPL, it was because we have an injury crisis.

 

dont think he is good enough... if i was massimo oddo i'd feel a little relieved seeing robson and not mcgeady, nakamura, riordan against me..

if we sign him whilst getting rid of riordan then im sorry but its a shambles.

 

He is better than Riordan on the left wing.
