Middlesbrough had a fair bit of competition in terms of strikers though, Vossen wasn't always first choice central striker, he usually played sparingly in that position and mostly played a role supporting Bamford and the other strikers.

Oh, well. That's that then. Marky's reached a verdict based on one season at Middlesbrough.

What? What are you basing this on? Do you have a list of De Bruyne-assisted Vossen goals that you're not sharing with us? Not to mention the fact that 1) Vossen would still have to finish those chances and, as someone else said, could equally be described as the reason for De Bruyne's number of assists and 2) that De Bruyne was not a world class player at Genk and that Vossen would likely be getting much the same service here, if not better.

    GENK DESPERATE TO KEEP VOSSEN

Genk coach Peter Maes is desperate to keep striker Jelle Vossen at the club, with Celtic looming to capture the Belgian. Vossen, on loan at Middlesbrough last season, has been allowed to miss the start of pre-season training, and Maes says he will welcome the 26-year-old back with open arms.

“I want to work with Vossen. I would welcome him back here with open arms. I am also open for an extended talk with him if Jelle feels he needs that.

“But I have learned it is going to be difficult for him to come back and I want to respect his opinion.”

I think Markyybhoyy has every right to be worried about last seasons strike rate.

There are many contributing factors to that, though: playing in a different, more physical, less technical football culture; largely playing out of position; maybe feeling under pressure to 'keep up with' Bamford (whereas he was the main goalscorer at Genk).

If anything, last season makes me more excited about him. He's had a season to adapt to 'British style' football, in a league full of hammer-throwers. That, combined with his European nous and experience, may well make him ideal for us.

The fact that Middlesbrough fans are desperate for him to stay says it all. He obviously made an impression.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. If you need reasons for why he might've struggled at Middlesbrough (he didn't do too badly actually), check the last page.

At least this guy used to British weather and football.
Hopefully he could hit the ground running if we sign him.

Did Middlesbrough fans start a hashtag campaign to get the club to sign Vossen which actually worked?! Should we do something similar to then see him sign for Norwich? :)

Not too worried about his lack of goals for Boro. It was his first season in a foreign country and he was very much playing a supporting role to Patrick Bamford, who was their main striker and voted League POTY.

His record at Genk is very good, and I think he'd do very well here.

I'd like this signing to happen.

Obviously just because he's proven himself a Celtic legend many times over in Football Manager :56:

If he rattled in 15-20 goals last season for Middlesbrough he'd be out of our reach. Some people need to realise the market we operate in. Id be delighted with this signing.

Aye, he was but the landscape has changed even since then.

Look at the full Troy Deeney thing, rated at £15m... mental.
