    AHA this thread made me laugh. McManus has been our best defender the last two years and at times he is the one keeping our defence together and having to cope with a defence always getting changed. Can you imagine our defence without him? HA I do rate McManus highly but dont feel he should be a captain but to be honest we have nobody else close to being a captain but McManus, he has the potential and is our best choice .


    One mistake makes him * when last year he was getting praised to the rooftops? Get a grip lad. What about Baldes mistakes? Sending off against UEFA Cup final and that stupid handball vs Lyon, he makes mistakes constantly and makes even more in big games.

    Mick has bad days like today and other days where he is magnificent. Thats because he is still young for a CB. I honestly think all of our CBs are good by SPL standards. Mick, Caldwll and Elvis are 3 out of 4 of the best Scottish CBs. I think the real problem is the FB positions.

    I think the central defenders are ok when they are together but when they are isolated the tackling leaves alot to be desired.
    How many times today did that useless Romanian striker manage to turn with no celtic player in five yards of him. They only had one striker at that point!
    Everybody knows that the first rule in defending is stick to your man and dont let him turn!

    Although I don't think he is the worst defender at the club, he makes far too many mistakes for me, and is never Celtic captain class.

    His positional sense can go from excellent to downright schoolboy. The third goal today was bad, but also watch his positional sense at the second goal. He was not marking anyone, and jumped like a big lassie.

    31 games away from home without a clean sheet, and he's a big part of that.

    It doesn't take a genius to see that we need a real centre half in there. There never seems to be any mention of interest in anyone. I just hope that WGS gas something up his sleeve but I doubt it. he thinks the sun shines out of Mick's *.
