If he has, surely he'll be cup tied with Seville?

Or maybe he didn't feature - says he only played 12 games since he signed at the start of last season.

I'll believe it when i hear from a good source, he would be a top signing imo, he's only 25 and he has played at the highest level. Please, Santa Lawwell :84:

He made a 5 min sub appearance in the CL this season so hes cup tied.

Apparently hes a right back (thought originally a Left) so obviously he'd have to put Alves out the team to get a game.

Seems to be a player than can get up the flank and put in a cross.

Even if he is cup tied he'd still be a gd signing, now that we've reached the last 16 my priorities are retaining the SPL!

Sounds like the player we need, i'm sure he played against us with stuttgart and looked a good player, hopefully this is true

    Celtic target Germany's Hinkel

[IMG] Left-back Hinkel moved to Sevilla in the summer of 2006

Celtic have targeted Sevilla left-back Andreas Hinkel and are close to signing the 25-year-old German international in January, BBC Sport understands.
It is believed that Hinkel, who joined the Spanish club on a four-year deal from Stuttgart in June 2006, is high on Celtic's transfer window shopping list.
And reports in the Spanish and German press suggest that he is interested in making the move to Glasgow.
According to reports, the clubs are close to agreeing a £2.1m transfer.
Hinkel has been capped 17 times by Germany but has fallen out of the international picture following his move to Spain.
It is being suggested that Celtic had originally hoped to take the player on loan.
But that appears to have been rejected by Sevilla and a permanent cash transfer appears to now be more likely.
Hinkel previously had discussions with Wolsburg and agent Klaus Schaude had been quoted as saying that a return to Germany appeared likely.
However, Celtic now appear to be favourites for his signature following their qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League. Manager Gordon Strachan needs cover for left-back Lee Naylor, who is presently missing through injury. Strachan has had to play centre-back Darren O'Dea, midfielder Paul Hartley and winger Ryan Conroy in that position in recent weeks.

Glad to see it's on the BBC now, hopefully this deal goes through without and hitches

    Boruc/Brown

    Wilson/Doumbe - Pressley/Caldwell - McManus/O'Dea - Naylor/Hinkel

    Nakamura/? Brown/Donati - Hartley/Jarosik - McGeady/Riordan

    J'VoH/Killen - McDonald/?

So for me that leaves us two positions to get filled, maybe Maloney/McFadden and Lafferty.

We might as well get rid of Zurawski, Balde, Gravesen. Three in, three out. Maybe Sno out on loan too

Think he will be a good signing for us IF its true ..A German international and only 25 that only can be good for us ,attracting players of this quality will do us no harm whatsoever , but remember only IF its true :50:

Celtic Close in on sevilla left back

    Celtic close on Germany's Hinkel

[IMG] Left-back Hinkel moved to Sevilla in the summer of 2006

Celtic have targeted Sevilla left-back Andreas Hinkel and are close to signing the 25-year-old German international in January, BBC Sport understands.

He's apparently more attacking than Naylor with better dribbling abilities

But Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell would only confirm that Hinkel is one of several players being considered by manager Gordon Strachan.
Hinkel has been capped 17 times by Germany but has fallen out of the international picture following his move to Spain.
The defender looked to be heading back to Germany after having discussions with Wolsburg.
And, when he spoke to reporters on Monday, he appeared to have settled on a return to the Bundesliga.
But reports from Spain suggest that Celtic now appear to be favourites for his signature following their qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League. Strachan needs cover for left-back Lee Naylor, who is presently missing through injury. The Celtic boss has had to play centre-back Darren O'Dea, midfielder Paul Hartley and winger Ryan Conroy in that position in recent weeks.

I thought Hinkel was a right back, if he is a right back we don't need him. I f hes a left back a would say a good signing.
