I was walking along when i seen a bunch of huns
Banging drums and playing flutes those dirty orange scum
The stench of pish and * eminated from their wifes
Oh thank * that im a roman catholic

Roamin in the gloaming with a shamrock in my hand
Roamin in the Gloaming with st patricks * band
    And when the music stops
    * king billy and John knox.
Oh its good to be a roman catholic.

I decided to follow the direction they would head.
When i heard the huns say * the pope and i saw * red.
I took his drum stick from his hand and put his face against the grass.
I turned and said * Bless The Pope and shoved it up his *.

Roamin in the gloaming with a shamrock in my hand
Roamin in the Gloaming with st patricks * band
    And when the music stops
    * king billy and John knox.
Oh its good to be a roman catholic.

Well they started to chase as i ran down past the shops,
Big hairy * with 5 bellies and kebab stains down there tops
But soon they tired out and too those * i did shout.
    * your queen and * your orange marches

Roamin in the gloaming with a shamrock in my hand
Roamin in the Gloaming with st patricks * band
    And when the music stops
    * king billy and John knox.
Oh its good to be a roman catholic.

Well the next time your passing an orange hun brigade
Tell those * what you think and never be afraid.
    Because us tims know best
and so do all the rest
They just wish that they were roman catholics.

Roamin in the gloaming with a shamrock in my hand
Roamin in the Gloaming with st patricks * band
    And when the music stops
    * king billy and John knox.

This seems more of a song that Huns would sing to be honest. Isn't Celtic a club for all, or am I mistaken? Yet more evidence that Religion is complete and utter *. Embarrassing song.

    ANTI-SECTARIAN, ANTI-RACIST, ALWAYS.

Its just a song saying its good to be a Roman Catholic. Think you're jumping to conclusions Ache. It doesn't say at one part 'Celtic is only for Roman Catholics':97: Also is your opinion that Religion is 'complete and utter *'. No need to go about parading how anti sectarian, anti racist you are when the song isn't even racist and barely sectarian compared to the stuff that the huns sing.

Not racist at all but it is sectarian and to me they go hand in hand and are as bad as each other. Would you be happy to sing this in front of protestants and expect them not to feel uncomfortable? If not then that tells you something.

Maybe you aren't aware what sectarianism is Ciaran.

Sectarianism- Attaching importance to perceived differences between subdivisions within a group, such as between different denominations of a religion.

If this song isn't attaching importance to being a Catholic and therefore insinuating Protestants are somehow not as good and wish they were Catholics then I don't know what is. IT IS SECTARIAN. Deal with it. If you sing this, you're singing a sectarian song. Something we all say they Huns are guilty of and we are not.

Don't be so patronising, I know what sectarianism is mate. Its barely sectarian. Because it says 'dirty orange scum', '* king billy and john knox', the huns say by far worse. I'm sure 99% of the Celtic fans have said 'orange *', or along the lines of that during their lives. I think you need to grow up mate and stop being so petty.

I don't see the song as sectarian.

It's pro-Catholic song not an overtly anti-Protestant song. Some people may think those two things are one and the same - I don't.

An example of what I would class as sectarian is when we sing 'On the One Road' and then add in the middle the line 'North men, South men, comrades all - soon there'll be no Protestants at all -'.

He isn't being petty at all. He's spot on IMO.
The song is sectarian, regardless of whether it is 'barely' or 'full on'. It excludes protestants in the support from singing it, what if they are perfectly happy in their faith and some dafty starts that up? I reckon they would be feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed. I would hate to do that to someone in our own support.

At the end of the day, we have better songs to sing than that, ones that celebrate the club and our inclusiveness. I would rather focus on them.

Also, just because rangers fans sing far worse doesn't mean we should.

    Hail Hail:shamrock:

Well for starters, we're not "open to all" as some suggest. Idealistic, sanctimonious pish.

Secondly, this song is not anti-Protestant.

The song would make Protestants in our support feel uncomfortable as has been said. That's a very simple reasons why the song shouldn't be sung amongst our support

Like it or not, there are many Protestant supporters amongst us and they have every right to support the club as much as anyone else. Even if we're not a club open to all as you say, we should strive to be.

Who is expressly excluded from supporting Celtic?

The song should not be sung as it excludes those of other religions and none, I think it's good to be a Roman Catholic because of what my faith brings to me on a personal level, it has nothing to do with Celtic and as a practicing Catholic it's a song I cringe at when I hear as I'd be willing to bet most of those singing it doesn't actually know what being a Catholic is all about, religion should not be used to get a rise out of others which this song clearly attempts to do.

I wasn't referring to religion when I said that, I couldn't give a * what religion you are.
