    I recently started a thread about the Greatest Celt and Auld didn't receive one vote but players like Daglish did. I believe Bertie to be one of our greatest players and was the engine in our greatest side during the 60s. Do you believe that he is underrated by our fans?

    I've said before he probably had the most influence on the Lisbon Lions in terms of experience in Europe.

    Don't know about being underrated on here, but me and my mates hold him in high regard. Had the pleasure of speaking to him a few times too because he's friendly with my old boss. Great man with a great sense of humor

    I was just surprised that didn't receive a vote. I think he is up with such as Jimmy McGrory and Billy McNeill

    Aye definitely. Seen your thread, woulda went with Big Cesar myself. But I'm suprised people like Dalglish got voted Greatest Celt before Auld though. I wouldn't say any of them where the greatest because I just can't see past McNeill, Dalglish is definitely behind Wee Bertie in the pecking order for me though

    McGrory for me but I agree about Dalglish always thought he was a scumbag. Great player but no near greatest Celt

    I dont think he is underrated.I think he is in the fortunate but unfortuante position of being one of the unsung heroes of the Lions.
    How could anyone possibly vote for him as greatest ever Celt, in front of the aforementioned greats? He was an invaluable member of a great team, but anyone who votes for him as greatest ever Celt hasnt a clue about football.....which is why he got no votes!
    That doesnt mean he wasnt a cracking player, but in no way is he ahead of the usual suspects.

    Dalglish got votes because he was Scotland's greatest ever player, even if only half his career was at Celtic.

    I love wee Bertie. Class act. He has a great sense of humour too that is just unmistakably his own. He is definitely the unsung hero in the "Willie Maley" lyrics. Loved the way he linked up perfectly with big Bobby Murdoch. I'd love to meet him someday.

    Anyway, I think being the only Celtic player to have had any sort of success in Europe was integral to the Lisbon Lions.

    Bertie is my favourite guy from the past, I think it's more to do with how his character is now and the way he still holds the team in such a high regard.

    He still watches and knows our current team inside out. He will never talk our team down and is the sort of person that the club should use to speak to new players about what it means to play for Celtic.

    In any interview he gives he gets across that what the fans want is for Celtic players to "entertain".
