Hay toiled to keep up with big spending Rangers and in 1987, he was sacked in a manner that deeply hurt the manager - particularly as he was immediately replaced by McNeill, who was infamously offered the job in a Clydebank car park on the day Hay was axed.

Gordon admits that put a strain on their relationship but there is no longer any ill will between the men.

“I did Davie’s autobiography about five years ago and the guy who wrote the foreward was Billy McNeill,” he said. “That tells you what you need to know about their relationship these days.

“But at time Davie was, shall we say, peeved.

And so you should if you feel you need to he is after all our greatest ever captain and arguably one of our greatest players, I wasn't trying to sully his memory or his achievements I only pointed out I found that episode rather poor, but I see even Davie Hay doesn't hold it against him I suppose it's the way football is really :50:

Is Scott Brown the greatest ever Celt?

    Hibernian
    Scottish League Cup (1): 2007
    Celtic
    Scottish Premiership (4): 2007–08, 2011–12, 2012–13, 2013-14
    Scottish Cup (2): 2011, 2013
    Scottish League Cup (2): 2009, 2015
    Individual

Again, not in the discussion. Paul McStay is not even close to being the greatest ever Celt.

Apologies apologies. I just read the title and not the content of the original post where it clearly states 'player'.

Got to be Henrik for me. No doubt if i got to see the Lions live opinion so i cant base any of they players off a limited highlight reel on youtube.

Henrik was probably most people's idol growing up and the fact he is still the out and out top goalscorer in the UEFA Cup is * awesome

Like I said, he doesn't enter the discussions IMO.

Clearly his loyalty during a barren period should be commended but ultimately up against our best ever he doesn't compare.
