I agree that we should be always looking to improve our squad and if this was a loan deal in even probably a years time then I might think differently but this is a player who Ronny said himself last season wouldnt walk into our first team squad never mind team.

It's not about that kind of strength, Nakamura was obviously in far better physical shape in that comparison and able to play game after game taking all the knocks and beatings that come with it. 16 year old bodies are just not equipped to take that kind of punishnent yet.

Again, I go back to the point of Rooney, who was playing week in/week out at that age. Odegaard has already been playing week in, week out for Stormgodset.

What is it about Odegaard himself you don't think he can handle?

All 16 year olds are vastly weaker than 20 year olds? I know for a fact even you don't believe the nonsense you are coming away with.

Wayne Rooney was stronger than most men when he was 16, so he clearly doesn't.

    You are correct.

As I've said previously in this thread, my wife meets Ødegaard once in a while with her work. She met him (and the whole national team) for example on thursday and friday. She only has nice things to say about him as he's down to earth and humble, as you'd expect of a 16 year old kid with the "right" upbringing.

He is a cracking player no doubt but ad rather hendeson playing much more this season than this kid plus henderson is our player the more games he gets for us the more he develops and i think he would have a bigger role to play next season especially in the league as he is proved can handle with ease.

Im clearly talking about footballers here, and if you take the majority of 16 year olds and put them through the same traininh regimes as a 20 year old who have been doing the training for four years longer then the 20 year olds are a lot tougher and in better physical shape. Hence players peaking physically between 23-29 in the majority of cases

    The majority. Not all.

Which is why I'm asking why you don't think Odegaard can handle it, considering he's already played week in, week out for Stormgodset and plays football at an International level?

Also playing for Castilla that play in a lower league, against physically developed players?

Would be a good move for us attaining his services. However if he was to be loaned out, I would think that Real would like him to stay within Spain.

Ødegaard still has some way to go in terms of physical development but his intelligence and technical ability make up for it - but I just don't think we need to strengthen in that department. He would play in attacking midfield where we already have a lot of quality. He's good but not so good that we need to bring him in on loan instead of using our own players. It's not like when we brought in Denayer because our options at CB weren't very good.

Happily take him as a squad player on loan.
Him and johansen in the attacking middle. Gms and commons on the right. Armstrong and a.nother on the left. Content with that.

If anything it gives the club a bit more attention in European media, develops a relationship with real Madrid (rather we done this with barca for personal preference) and we get the benefit of squad depth.

As for henderson, I still consider him a central midfielder to take over from Brown one day. So for that position, brown and henderson. Bitton and a.nother again.

Would rather see Armstrong and Johanson vying for that spot in the middle.

Ronny himself said last season he wouldnt walk into our first team squad, that this was a level up. As a 16 year old he is a player very much at the start of his development. Celtic are a better team than the Norwegian national team and Castilla and Stromgodset so it would make sense for them to a player with all his attributes even though he still hasnt fully developed. Plus the whole point of Castilla is to give young players game time and get them used to the physical aspects of the game, amongst other things obviously.

Overall I just think we have better options both in squad and potential buys than taking a young 16 year old kid on loan for a season, regardless of his potential.

Better options I can agree with, especially if we only have him as a season, what I'm asking is why he can't physically cope with playing week in, week out when he has already done so? Which was your full original point I believe?
