So why did he go to wolves rather than accept a small pay cut?

 

No people should not rewrite history about great servants of our club because they are currently the manager of a rival club and are using the media trying to gain an edge for his current team. It's all in the game.

It's not a lie , he was a lucky man to get his testimonial as he had wasted his first couple of years at Celtic , drinking and acting the wide man . Only for a serious talking to by his father former Celt , also Jackie , he would never have become a decent player for Celtic.
With the appointment of a new Manager, P Lawwell thought that his hands were filled without having to finalise however Jackie decided to take advantage of the situation and signed a deal with Wolves . He didn't let Celtic know until he was well down into England . Lawwell tried to make a deal but Jackie with his testamonial in his pocket raced to future wealth at Wolves . He was found out and had to come back with the tail between his legs , not capable of playing for Wolves .

 

This slating of Jackie McNamara could well be leveled at Scott Brown in the future. I think in terms of loyal service to the club regarding ex players who have given their best years to Celtic. Others seem to feel they deserve no respect because they got paid.

We couldn't offer him the money he wanted, there's nothing wrong with that. You always have a tendency to think good players should just get the money they want, that goes for Jackie and also Guidetti. Our wage structure is there for a reason.

Anyway, he had ten great years with us and deserved his testimonial. Given his injury record after he left us we dodged a bullet by not resigning him, so it all turned out for the best.

Let's all remember Jackie McNamara didn't make celtic - celtic made Jackie McNamara and as for people slagging Scott brown in future well if anyone try's to belittle the celtic manager and Jackie has done it a few times this season the if Scott brown was to do it or izzy or commons then am sure they will be on the receiving at as at the end of the day these guys have pulled on those hoops and have been paid very handsomely to do it!

Frank mcgarvey is another one that only comes out the woodwork when celtic are on a bad run

Look at Ritchie Britain at Inverness he signed a deal with St Johnstone then broke it and stayed at Ross county can easily be done he had even had a medical at wolves ffs he left for the money end of!

Exactly you heard it was 4k but they we're introducing new structure at celtic where it could have be 4k a week then win and performance based could have taken it higher like most of our contract are just now

Do you hate Henrik Larsson for scoring against Celtic. Would you have expected him to be negligent in his job because Celtic made him?

I dont see the coloration between Frank McGarvey and Jackie. Why not just throw in Mo Johnstone for good measure.
