No offence mate but I genuinely could not care less what these sort of people think.

I am not particularly pro or anti the flares. I can understand when people bring up it may affect them if they have asthma etc and I wouldn't be happy if we were banned from Europe because of them but for me the whole clubs reputation argument is for me personally a complete irrelevance.

I care for the clubs reputation, that's what earns us so many new fans throughout the world each year, which in turn leads to more people buying Celtic merchandise, which then equals cash in theory.

Yes I would be * if we got fined for our songbook. My argument is that we have the best fans in the world and we don't need flares to generate an intimidating atmosphere, unlike other teams, so if we are being fined for it why continue it?

Why are people so bothered about using flares that they want to see the club continuously fined? It would be quite easy to live without them. And comparing this waving a Palestine flag or such like is * bollocks, that's not even nearly comparable, for instance its not likely to choke some poor * with asthma.

The songbook has nothing to do with flares that is the thing we MAY be fined for, depending on what UEFA do. IF we cop another fine, then I would ban the individual and look into suing for whatever the fine is.
I don't give Celtic money to pay for fines incurred by individuals who are well aware that we have been fined before for setting them off.
Does UEFA have double standards in this area, yes of course they do but that still has not helped OUR CLUB avoid any previous fine/s.

Yes we know what the media think about us (in Scotland) but so far, in Europe, they have a pretty decent view on us and I would like to try and maintain that. The reputation of the club is important and this mentality of "I don't care" I read from others really gets on my *. (not having a specific go at anyone in particular here).

Do you seriously think fans of teams in other European countries look at it though and think oh I don't like Celtic anymore as one of their fans had a flare ?

No but I never said that :97: I said our reputation is important and this covers more than just how fans view us. A negative headline that can be avoided easily is surely a smart thing to want. Or do we want to just accept the risk of continued fines (IF we get charged for last night).

I honestly don't see what the fuss is about. Loads of clubs set off way more flares than we do. It's this love a lot of fans have of wanting the club to appear whiter than white, especially in the eyes of UEFA and mythical foreign supporters who supposedly would not like us because of a flare or 2 lol.

I consider the fines money well spent as it increases the spectacle even further and the supporters enjoy themselves even more. The opposite of what the SFA and UEFA want (where is our safe standing, why are we not allowed to have a beer when watching the football etc.) When you consider the wages being spunked on Boerrigter and the like. :smiley-laughing002:

Would it ever escalate to the threat of heavy-handed fines or playing games behind closed doors? I don't know what the track record is for other clubs who have been down this road before so I can't comment fully.

If either of those things did happen then it would be a shame and so it would definitely have to stop for the sake of supporting our team. Modern football...............

Oh well if you don't care about a possible waste of money, far be it for me to point out the flaw in that :bbpd:

I don't get the whole 'flare' thing. Doesn't add to the game experience... in fact, it can be an absolute pest for folks in the area of the smoke, and it costs the club money in fines.

    Daft.

Celtic have been charged by UEFA for fans lighting flares at the Inter game, they have also been charged for "improper conduct of the team" after five yellow cards and one red card were shown to the team.

We need to stop the use of the flares, Celtic are being fined left right and centre.
We don't pay money to the club for it to be wasted on fines. I want this money to be spend on players. What other club's fans do is their problem, but we are very much on UEFA hit list and they are watching everything we do.
The fines will only get bigger and they can ban the support from either home or away games. The person that decided to let off a flare last night after the latest fine should be named and shamed. I would fine and ban them from Celtic Park, this can't keep happening.

    Uefa to charge celtic...........again

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31663628

Celtic have been charged on two counts of improper conduct by European governing body Uefa following their Europa League defeat by Inter Milan.
They relate to the setting off of fireworks by supporters - and the team's on-field discipline.
Celtic received seven yellow cards, including two for defender Virgil van Dijk, who was sent off during their 1-0 last-16 loss in the San Siro Stadium.
The charges will be heard by Uefa on 19 March.
But there will be no investigation into the performance of referee Ivan Kruzliakin.
That was described as ''horrible'' by Van Dijk, with manager Ronny Deila claiming even the referee himself would not be happy with it.

A spokesman told BBC Scotland: ''The referee's performance will be evaluated by the referee observer.
"These are considered when future appointments are made, but there will be no investigation.''
The Uefa charge over on-field discipline is automatic once a team receives five yellow cards.
It is the sixth time in three years that Celtic have been charged over supporter behaviour.
On Wednesday, Uefa fined Celtic £7,300 for crowd disturbances that followed the use of fireworks in Croatia during their Europa League group stage match against Dinamo Zagreb.

I take it all these clubs will be receiving fines and widespread media condemnation?

As long as we keep playing with flare, I'm happy.
