you are holding us to standards we haev never had in several decades. Its all about money and we cant afford better. That buch are very good players by SPL standards and thats always what really matters. The above list is the standard we can achieve adn if we had a few more of that standard we woudl be a really decent team. Our problem is that we have 3 or 4 first picks who dont have the same standards as those guys.

We had that standard earlier in this decade - Rab Douglas, Momo Sylla, Ramon Vega etc.:86:

Sutton was top drawer, Lambert, Lennon, Henke, Lubo, Mjallby - good European class players.

I'm sorry mate but IMO we don't have many VERY good players at all.

So in a way I am complimenting the Ginger Genius as we are over-achieving given what we've got to work with.

People should stop pointing out things like we have a poor squad compared to most other CL teams and we are too negative and if we opened up more we'd get leathered. These things have to be looked at and you have to take a plan of action in order to go as far as you can in the competition, it's called tactics and it's part of the game of football.

Talk about stating the obvious eh? It's just that some people get on their high horse and forget that sometimes you have to be fly and at the end of the day we're in the last 16. Ye ha!!! :shamrock:

Lambo and Henke and Sutton were European class but Lubo was on his last legs under MON although a great player. MON was fortunate to inherit 3 of those 4 as well as Stan, Jackie etc. Lenny was a good British type player but never Euro class. I actually think Hartley is looking every bit as good as Lenny was at his peak. Mjallby's cult seems to have grown since he left. He was criticised by many 'turning circle of a London bus' etc for most of his time with us apart from his last year or so.

Yea Jarosik was back to his old self.Hadn't he started playing half decent?Yesterday he lost the ball time and time again against Gattuso/Ambrosini. Where did you get Scott Brown from? Never heard of him till this season. Looks like a pretty good player, missed a great opportunity from a long ball though.

    Agh Double post.

One more thing. What happend to the confidence since last year? Last time we played you were certain you were gonna maul us. Since then it's all gone abit.. negative.

That is what I said already.

Celtic should of held onto the ball and passed it around instead of going from the backline to Scott McDonald/McGeady when about 8 players were in defensive positions. That was our problem all night. And its far easier to wear down any teams fitness by keeping the ball and letting them chase after you. We didnt try to exploit your team's possible lack of fitness at all.

Mike I don't even know what half of your posts mean mate.

What are the 'facts' ? Tell me, for a fact, how many excellent players we have ?

I'll tell you for a fact that we have the quality to win our domestic league three years on the bounce and reach the last 16 two years on the bounce.:50:
Thats down to the quality of our players and management.
With a good bit of business in the window we may go even further.

You didn't answer the question. Much as it pains me to say it, but it's probably more to do with the management than the quality of players.

We have a squad full of excellent players. At one point or other in their careers most players have been of a high standard, excluding the younger members. Trying to keep them all happy and on top of their game is the hard bit.
