A real pity if he goes but thanks anyway Eck. Could be a grim job like WGS's at Coventry. Maybe he has been promised a big budget and thinks he can turn them into a mid table team or even Uefa contenders. If he does that then he will have been right to go. My feeling is he is going.

Please * not Souness!!!! With WGS at Celtic and Wattie at Rangers, that leaves only weaker candidates. Everton wont let their manager go. That does not leave many options. All options are a step down from Eck and Wattie. There is no other Scottish manager with CL experience. We will either have to look at non-Scots (Bertie..shudder) or less qualified locals like Levein, Tommy Burns etc.

    ECKS GONE!!

Alex McLeish has resigned as Scotland boss and is now expected to take over at Birmingham. Blues caretaker Eric Black left St Andrews earlier today.

McLeish is a * - any respect I had for him is totally gone. After Walter Smyth * off halfway through the campaign, McLeish * off after, what 6/7 games - TOTAL *.

What does this say about the job and our country if these bluenose * make the national job look like a * holiday camp.

Im * off with these * * - go and die you * McLeish - I hope Birmingham blows up the minute you step foot in it you cunthead fuckface.:47::47::47::47::47:

Well, look on the bright side, they are fast running out of Ex-Rangers men as options, assuming its not Souness (please *). I think Tommy Burns has a chance again. Hope if he is offered he doesnt cut of his nose to spite his face. Grudges never are a good idea. It would be nice to see Tommy get recognision and all of a sudden there are no stronger candidates.

I think Billy Davies will get it.

Interesting. MON & Big Eck going toe yo toe in the same city again.

Big mistake. Certain relegation fodder. All that talk of "seeing the Scotland job through" was just that; talk. Ah well.

    * him...sat here in Brighton chatting with English mates and it makes a mockery of Scottish football.

I know his salary is poor and he'll make more money but Birmingham are useless and he'll get * over by the new guy Yeung (if he shows up) as McManaman is his main adviser or get relegated or both..good luck in the championship *!

I hate it when Scottish hope are dashed by coming to England and fading into mediocrity...see Maloney, Miller, (Kenny and Liam) by way of example....

I don't think it will affect the team but for * sake don't give it to Souness.... what about Billy Davies? Any thoughts on that? Don't know him that well but he's available....

I don't think Burns will go for the job.

As for Davies I really hope not.

But I don't know who else is available, especially if we want them to be a Scot. Not Souness, we don't need the disharmony he'd bring.

Real Radio suggested Roy Aitken and Tommy Burns...

Scotland to install Fabio capello, and England to assign Sammy Lee. You read it here first!

Eck going doesnt hurt as much as I thought. At least it was at the end of a campaign and not in the middle like (t)wattie.

Good point. Leaving now at least leaves Scotland with plenty of time to get organised and find a new manager. However who the man is can be crucial. All you have to do is look at the mess Ireland made of things when appointing Staunton. Despite Ireland having a good squad of players with such a bad manager he turned our team into a joke.
Not sure who I would want as Scotland manager but whoever does get the job will hopefully be able to build on what has been achieved in the current European Championship qualifiers.
