Off the top of my head the only two I could think of as being better at that point would be raul and ronaldo, and ronaldo was injured that season.

Top scorer in england that year was hasselbank, great striker but larsson was in a different league.

He was better after no doubt. If he hadnt broke his leg Barnes may have done better and had another year and we would never have had MON.

We were doing quite well until Lyon.

I actually felt he lost a bit of pace after the injury but his all-round game got better.

He wasn't quite as quick after but the thing about Larsson was he never stopped learning, never stopped improving. Hard to tell at which time he was better, and I'm just grateful as * we got to watch him for as long as we did.

He seemed to be a more ruthless and clinical player when he returned. No frills or anything fancy about his game, he just did the simple things brilliantly.

One of my favourite youtube videos...greet away.

    EDIT:

It's incredible, and I mean this in every sense of the word, just how many headers he scored for us for a guy of his size.

Unreal, people talk about Ronaldo's jump but he is 6ft2, Henrik was 5ft 9? 10? Only one I could compare it to nowadays was an on form Falcao, who is the same height. When he was playing for Porto he was the closest thing I had seen to Henrik's style IMO.

Larsson must also hold the record for the most diving headers scored? Surely:56:

I think he lost of bit of pace and agility when he came back and became a wee bit more ruthless in response.

Would love to a see a breakdown of his number of goals per opposition.

30 goals against Dunfermline alone, they must've been glad to see the back of him.

Probably most chips/dinking over the keeper as well, he lobbed keepers all the time. Only other player I recall who also did that was Messi, wonder if Messi picked that up from training with Larsson for 2 years.

Henrik was remarkably good in the air for his size. He had the ability to hang in the air once he'd made his jump and the timing of his jump was often perfect too. I think the biggest factor in his aerial success was his ability to find space, even in a crowded penalty box. All great goalscorers have that knack and Henrik certainly had it. It doesn't matter how good in the air the opposing centre backs are if they're three yards away from you when a cross arrives in the box.

Well he came back and scored 53 goals for us and played a dominant role for Sweden so I would say he came back and just kept getting better as a player after his injury in France.
