It is alright claiming biggest deal in history but whats the fecking point if they don't let the fans know some details.

Could be bullshit or maybe NB want it kept quiet so as to not upset others.

The fact he used the words Sectarianism and Terrorism when talking about Republicanism is the reason I'm * off

Imagine he said Celtic has nothing to do with Scottish nationalism or racism ( just an example to show how things can be wrongly linked)( I disagree with the word terrorism just for the record)

After some digging i have found two sources that mention figures. Both claim it is 29m over 5 years , or 5.8 mill a year - which ties in with BBC's comment of "just under 6m a season " .

I've never seen a media so self inflicting as ours.

These questions were asked totally out of context, and they were hoping for answers like Lawwell gave.

Now the talk of the interview is * all to do with the fact we clinched a good deal, but the fact that Lawwell has made a stupid controversial statement that has not only * me off, but thousands of others too.

Why he even mentions terrorist organisations I don't know

He should have said no comment and got the reporter removed it's as simple as that totally embarrassing when your announcing new investors to the club and signing a deal with them

Because he has been totally stitched up. People are arguing about what Lawwell has said and not saying that our CEO has been set up by some *.

Lawwell is a tube end of. Irish republicanism is not nor has it ever been something to be ashamed of. He is lower than Bill Leckie in my eyes.

He is at a press conference announcing a sponsorship deal with NB and some * starts asking about that and you don't think he has not been stitched up ?

He was 100% stitched up, but should have had the balls to tell the journo with the agenda to * off out the room.

Lawwell is smart enough with statements when he has time to think about what he is going to say, but it seems he's let himself down when put on the spot when an immediate reply was required.

    Ill advised comments from him.

Good post. I'm just catching up on the news of the day now and don't understand how we are even having this discussion on a day when we announced a fantastic deal though i do find it strange that exact figures were not produced. Never heard this happening before. Chelsea released their figures recently for example detailing how much it worked out per year.

On one hand i'm dissappointed with the word terrorist being used as this can have so many interpretations but at the end of the day Lawell is a business man and only wants the best deals for the club. Which means it his job to put Celtic's image in the best possible light. The better your image in marketing terms the more money you get which can only be good for the team. After the useless tv deal i believe this is a fantastic piece of business and am fully behind Lawell. We are * light years ahead of the zombies and should appreciate that but as someone else mentioned he could have chosen his words more carefully today. Everyone makes mistakes so whatever. Onwards and upwards. If we qualify for the CL next season we will get the highest ever amount a Scottish side has ever received due to the BT deal. If that is achieved 10 in a row here we go.
