I liked the cliche further up the thread about "tourism"

If they were to disappear overnight I doubt it would stop one visitor coming, granted many visit all the * around Buckingham Palace etc but it's not the SOLE reason they come to the UK and never has been, London is an amazing pull and for whatever reason wherever I've been they all want to go there.

 

They'd make much more if the palaces were open to tourism,and other places of royalty were similar.

If that's the only * use those of a superior bloodline are.

 

The Huns bang on about the tourism money but I doubt much (if any) ends up in Scotland.

I honestly don't think I've spoken to anyone who has listed the Royal family as their reason for wanting to visit the UK. I think if we were to have a French style revolution and seize all of their estates and then really open them up to the paying public, the country would make an absolute fortune.

 

She needs to serveanother 34 weeks to beat Victoria but still no nowhere near the record holder (undisputed).

Louis XIV served as longest reigning European monarch for 72 years, 15 weeks and 5 days so she would need to serve another 9 years.
