Mulgrew and Tonev were absolutely * rotten whilst they were on the park, Tonev could easily have had a hat trick and Mulgrew was deservedly hooked at half time. Didn't think we were awful and should have had more goals but we weren't great either. Thought it was quite * the only time the whole stadium joined in a song was when they found out the Huns had lost, was quite funny but at least sing about Celtic once or twice around it.

Only saw bits and pieces of the game but from what did see our finishing was very poor but happy with the win given we do tend to struggle around this time of the year

It's just become entertaining attempting to get the crowd to sing.

Think overall people expect too much of the players. I don't doubt there's a lot of potential but a team needs time to gel over at least a year of playing together cause they're not top drawer.

Clear in the strike force. 4-2-3-1 is OK in most of European games but against Spl bunker style defending you need 4-4-2. Stretching teams down the wings and a lethal front 2 partnership would destroy anything in front us right now in the spflp.

We're winning so you canny go too far with it but it's clear the players are capable of more. Home crowds don't help this at all. So edgy. No doubt Tonev would have buried the others if he'd netted his first.

edit- And our attacking intensity is too slow :smiley-laughing002:

Sorry, but it was just really * cold

I liked yesterday's game especially on the mid section of the field. That was really fine and the team has stepped up a level or two.

What I was waiting for was faster play and decisive passes into the box area. They were few. There was too much eagerness to shoot the ball instead of trying to find a free player to deliver a quick pass.

Tonev wanted to score too eagerly. At the same time by hurrying some constructive play and real scoring chances were lost. He was not the only one.

Not the best of performances in terms of really opening them up in the final third. But we completely dominated the entire game and that was as comfortable a win as 1-0 can get. Moves us 3 points clear at the top too which feels good.

8 straight domestic wins can't ask for anything more all about keeping the winning run going no matter if we scrape the odd game 1-0 wins are wins it's all good for Ronny and Co

He'll be talking about Tonev shooting from anywhere and he's right.

Someone needs to let him know he's * at shooting. It was the Villa fans biggest pet hate with him as well, he scored 1 peach from hundreds of attempts.

You surely cannot be judging his shooting ability after he has only played a few games for us and Villa he hasn't had a run in either side to gain any sort of match sharpness. Other than that he certainly has something about him and I would much prefer him to Stokes who lacks pace and makes so many basic mistakes far too often.

Stokes, Guidetti, Johansen and Tonev can all take players on and create chances. That's entertaining and the game was more interesting to watch because of this.

Van Dijk's starting to roam into midfield and Mulgrew probably has an injury he's playing through, that he picked up in the Scotland game.

The players will feel a bit low not putting those chances away, but the goals will come eventually.

I agree if you create that many chances in every game you will score goals eventually. If celtic play like that in every game domestically for the rest of the season they'd be a good bet on going unbeaten, at times I really saw Ronnys philosophy shining through pressing as a unit and quick passing. Partick have gone way down in my estimations I always thought they'd played good football but that last night was atrocious every time Guidetti, Johansen, Stokes, Tonev, Virgil or Efe went for a header they were pulled and shoved in the back and the referee for some unknown reason let them off with it they are a terrible dirty side and thank * for Gordon, if they'd got that goal it would have been a travesty.

I mind Strachan's side were fond of a few 1-0 and last minute goals. People are quick to forget under Lennon we struggled sometimes to finish teams off as well, it's natural.

Even moreso when they have 11 men behind the ball and we have played 3 games in 6 days.

Okay. Here's the plan. Every single set piece, kick the ball towards big Virgil.

Yes but under Lennon we were rock solid at the back and SPL teams had to bust their * to get a chance at goal. Currently every team we play against has at least 2 goal scoring chances against us in each game.

I have always said that the formation is our problem. 433 means we have too much out wide and not enough in the middle. We are also ridiculously exposed to fast direct counter attacks. To be honest i dont even think we have the correct players to play 433. Derk, Tonev, Berget, and Wakaso are not the answer.

If he switched to the diamond we will solve our problems right away. It will also move Stokes in to his best position. We can also play Commons or McGregor at the tip in thier natural positions. The counter argument is that we will lack width but this is not true as our full backs will provide this.

Despite what people might think i have nothing against Ronny. I want it to work out for him as much as any man. I want to see us win every game, no matter what. My main gripe is with the 433 and for us to play it in particular when it doesnt suit. Players out of position, massive gaps, our best player on the bench. My opinion is that if we stick with this system then we will again fail to qualify for the big cup.

Last season we were largely solid aye, but it was not always like that. I can remember a time under Lennon I would feel extremely wary about us at the back. It's all about having the right players. Van Dijk came in last season and took the league by storm, one of the best centre halfs we have had in years. Once we lose him, which we will, I will start to be slightly concerned. We need to start preparing now for when he leaves. People say he is overated but I think that's bollocks personally, take him out the side and we are much poorer, strolls games.

I agree that we don't have the right players for this formation, we are gagging on some more creative players to slot in behind the striker, which with any luck, will be John Guidetti. RD has now had 4 months to suss out his side and in January I hope to see him shift some more out and bring in his own style of player.

It's meant to be a 4-2-3-1 as well, not really a 4-3-3 but I know what you are saying. The 4 wingers you mentioned won't be here next season, I can't see any staying/being bought permenantely.

I'd like us to shift to 2 upfront or try and incorporate Scepovic/Griffiths in some way but I cannot see RD going for it, which is fair enough. I am quite happy to see him input his philosophy, as long as it works, which I think it will given time.

However, I do think, in this system, like you hinted at, we will continue to struggle to keep clean sheets in Europe. I hope he can find some sort of 'plan B' if you like.
