Don't know why I bothered to read that, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Sunderland fans are generally an unhappy bunch at the minute, since their club has handed piles of cash to poor managers who have bought poor players with it. So their keen for change.

There are a few jibes about lack of professionalism, though. No idea what Fletcher is like as a person, but the Mackems don't seem too keen.

Think the general consensus is maybe his attitude, rather than ability. Most weren't outright saying he was * but most would rather he was gone now..

Sometimes a player and club do not suit for a number of reason's, and it's fair to say Fletcher hasn't been suited to Sunderland and Sunderland's playing style hasn't been suited to Fletcher, or any striker for years infact..

You're right. His lack of goals is no slight on his ability, given Defoe has also struggled.

    100%..

When you factor in both have had good goalscoring records in the epl, Fletcher in 2 poor relegated side's and Defoe consistently for year's, it should be no surprise..

Sunderland for some reason, is a bit of a poisoned chalice. However many new manager's, or player's come in, not a lot of doom and gloom on or off the park happens. You'd probably have to go all the way back to Quinn and Phillips to find a real last good form striker they had, and that was as a partnership, not a lone man. Even then, they were still a yoyo club..

If we brought him in we'd at least have an option when going long.

At the minute if Gordon doesn't roll the ball out we lose possession instantly as we have no height in the final third. A glaring hole in our side.

True. I wouldn't mind him because he's an upgrade on what we've got, but he flatters to deceive too much for my liking, and sounds like a *.

True. Not many better in the air in the Epl in my opinion, his hold up play can be first class as well..

Being honest, he's a massive upgrade on what we've got. Strong, has a good touch and is great in the air, has a decent bit of pace and with the right service and support, would definitely score goals..

I do think he could have some attitude problems, definitely, done something with the cab driver did he not? And the whole Scotland turn out stank..

He wasn't really a goalscorer at Hibs though either.

Certainly not like Stokes or Griffiths. He's never managed 15 goals in his career in one season, I just don't think he is a natural 25-30 goal a season guy, even 20 goals.

You can say "aye but we create loads" but you can't guarantee he'd score plenty for us, just because he is coming from being down in England for years.

Another thing is would he take that big a pay cut to come here..

Given that we have so badly struggled to recruit strikers, I don't think we can turn our nose up at someone who is essentially guaranteed to slot in straight away.

Brozek, Miku, Lassad, Bangura, Balde, Pukki, Scepovic is a pretty horrendous list of failures.

Suppose you can't but our scouting department always seem to look in the wrong places.

That story about Kramaric's agent being left in the rain while we signed Scepovic is embarrassing. :smiley-laughing002:

Fletcher would probably do a job for us and slot in as you say but I've never liked him as a player, no matter where he has been. Probably why I'm a bit unsure.

I would hesitate, Fletcher is not the player he was, evident most notably at international level.

    Not a good move.

With Scepovic away it looks like this could happen now.
