Astra v CELTIC - Thu 6th Nov - BT Sports 1 - 6pm

How many times have we scored first away from home in Europe then we change the way we are playing and let the other team back in to the game?!? It's becoming a joke now.

 

Lighten the * up about what..

We just missed a golden chance of guaranteeing European football after xmas, now it's 50/50.. * right there should be some finger pointing at that collapse..

 

Can't argue with that, we all would. Still should've finished the job tonight though.

and we played well 1st half but a combination of astra upping it and us not grafting and really you just knew we were gonna * it up

what is it ? lack of quality in the squad ? or players just thinking the job was done and they were * and we had it achieved already ???

Astra playing in Romania which is a superior league and Astra beating Lyon has nothing to do with today's performance. They are a decent team for sure, but Celtic should beat them from what we saw today.

 

We have too many Celtic fans on this forum and others who expect too much, like instant gratification.It dozen't work that way in real life. We have eight points in a tough group, eight points, and on the verge of qualifying.Pressure and chances mean nothing, it's goals that count, and we were dominant.

What's to worry about ?

 

15 min to go, we're winning 1-0, in the last 32, Gary McAllister is saying we are in control and so much better than Astra and the other pillock is talking about the match vs Salzburg deciding who'll top the group.
I'm watching it all and thinking that the players must also be of the same opinion because we visibly slacked off and Virgil, with no one around him in the box, decided to hoof a nothing ball. 30 secs later it's 1-1. Sloppy. Unprofessional. Arogant. Now we've got to get 1 point from the last 2 games.
Oh and if we do qualify, as much as that will be great, I dread coming upagainst a really decent side because, Craig Gordon aside, as a Team we just cannot defend. Bet Salzburg cannae wait for 3 weeks time.

We could very well qualify and by * i hope we do but we had it tonight, it was there..

I'm not boozing but anyway if it helps your argument..

 

We all share the frustration of not qualifying tonight.. on another night we would have seen it through but that's football..

This is the level we are at and we are competing at that level.. So what's the issue..? Would you have taken this position at the start?

Win against Aberdeen on Sun and then use the international break to get Commons and Forrest fit..

Enough of the doom and gloom move on...

 

Good first half performance but we slacked off badly in the second, still 'should' qualify although i can see Salzburg being tricky. Would feel so much more confident if guidetti was allowed to play.

 

Ok, 1 uo and cruising and expecting to.see it out again a pitifully weak opponent is asking too much..

How many folk in here would of took 8pts in 4 games?
we got a great draw against a good team in Salzburg and two home wins
we let go a lead tonight that was sloppy but its football it happens we are in a great position and I am satisfied with that we could be a lot worse off that's for sure ....

The team did let us down TONIGHT ... and its very disappointing but in truth we are sitting coasily folk need to remember that and chill out a bit.

I know there are two more games but to be honest I think if it would ever happen it would be tonight. Zagreb were far superior to us and pumped Astra so going away to them I can see us defeat. Salzburg....well...they are a very good team for few seasons now...I really can't see it other way than a defeat again.

 

They haven't been made any more/less difficult. Stop panicking about it - we don't technically need to get anything out of the next 2 games, if Zagreb drop pts. But I'm fairly confident in us taking at least 1pts from the games, which does us nicely.

It was a chance to do it tonight, in style, but it didn't happen - to no fault of our own, that is just the way football is.

I had this down for a draw after seeing our last game against this mob, not surprised.

Hopefully we can man the * up against Salzburg, I reckon we can take them if we get a crowd (miracles can happen).

Great to see Johansen play so well, Mulgrew is a liability, esp in Europe.
