6pts for me, reckon we will beat them over there, Salzburg and Maribor are stronger than this team and we went to there grounds and got draws, should have pumped Maribor, wonder goal stopped us from beating Salzburg.

First game at CP, we will beat them and take confidence into the 2nd game at there stadium knowing a win will basically see us through.

Karagandy and elfsborg disagree with you.

With the first game at Celtic Park a win at Celtic Park would all but officially knock them out and would certainly leave us in a great position heading into the reverse fixtures and maybe even allowing us to head to Romania knowing a win would ensure qualification from the group.

You are correct. If we qualify from the group stages that put us into the last 32 and its knock all the way from there to the final.

I've noticed you a few times now. You never have a good word to say about Celtic, do you?

We won on Thursday, so stop being such a miserable *.

Could see them losing every game in this group (as they might give up when it is clear they have no chance of progressing). In which case, it's a 3 way shoot-out and the results between DZ and Salsburg will have the greatest bearing on how the group turns out. Not sure if I want them to draw both games or for one of them to win both.

10 points is NOT enough if Astri lose all their games.

There are twelve games in a four team group with a maximum of 36 points available.

If you get 10 points, the chances of two of the other three getting 10 or more are pretty slim.

If one team gets no points, however, three teams are splitting 36 points. If we get ten, then the other two teams split the remaining 26 points (this excludes draws, for each draw the available points is reduced by one.)

So ten points in a scenario where Astri get 0 points is actually very unlikely to be enough. Twelve points is probably, but not necessarily, good enough. Eleven points would be good enough if one team ran away with it (say Zagreb beat Red Bull home and Away.) Ten points would see us go out.

For an illustration of this look at Napoli last season in the Champions League when Arsenal Dortmund and Napoli all beat Marseille Home and Away. Arsenal and Dortmund went through on 12 points and Napoli went out despite also having 12 points.

A group where one side gets no points makes it very tight between the remaining three.

IF Zagreb lost both games to Salzburg, their maximum points total would be9. Probably unlikely though.

The other way to look at it is, assuming everyone beats Astri home and away, that if DZ and Salzburg beat one another with home advantage and take 6 from Astri, then DZ have 9 points with Celtic to play in Croatia, and Salzburg have 10 points with Celtic to play in Glasgow. Celtic would be on 10 going into these two matches.

Alternatively, if DZ beat Salzburg in Croatia and get a draw in Austria, then DZ have 10 points with Celtic to play in Croatia and Salzburg have 8 points with a trip to Celtic Park to go. Celtic would have 10 points going into these games.

Our last game is away to DZ and that will be tough. I think we may lose that, so we pretty much have a winner takes all game with Salzburg in Glasgow.

We should be winning both of these games.

Four points puts us on eight, and Astra on one, but they aren't a threat.

Really depends what happens between the other two team's head-to-heads. Astra will, probably, be the whipping boys, could be an awkward one with a ten-point team going out.

We'd effectively have a game in hand though as Dinamo Zagreb & Red Bull Salzburg have already played Astra Giurgiu. 10 points would very likely see us through, especially if Dinamo Zagreb and Red Bull Salzburg cancel each other out.

Back-to-back wins here and we're sitting on 10 points with 2 games left. We'd be almost certainly through, with another home game still to play.

Hopefully Zagreb and Salzburg draw both their games against each other. That would put Salzburg on 6 and Zagreb on 5 points.

    Celtic:

    1 pt against RB.
    3 pts against DZ.
    3 pts against AG.
    3 pts against AG.
    X pts against RB.
    X pts against DZ.

    Total: 10-16 pts

    Red Bull Salzburg:

    1 pt against CFC.
    3 pts against AG.
    X pts against DZ
    X pts against DZ.
    X pts against Celtic.
    X pts against Astra.

    Total: 4-16 pts

    Dinamo

    3 pts against AG.
    0 pts against CFC.
    X pts against RB.
    X pts against RB.
    X pts against Astra.
    X pts against Celtic.

    Total: 3-15 pts

Worst case scenario, everyone beats Astra and Red Bull and Dinamo take 3 points each from their head to heads - that'd leave Celtic & Red Bull level on 10 points and Dinamo on 9, with 2 games to play. Our destiny would still be in our own hands. We'd have to be very, very unlucky to fail to qualify with 10 points.

I wouldn't write off the last two games either. We've shown we can compete.

Don't think anyone is writing off the Salzburg game, we have a better chance of winning that than beating Astra away IMO.
