I thought it was a great fight, really tense. You were never going to get a KO between these two. Kessler was awesome in places, but Calzaghe just went about his business as usual. Calzaghe proves he's the best pound for pound in the world.

I'm a Kessler fan now, comes across as a decent guy as well as a great fighter, and I'll look out for his fights in future.

2 smart boxers, Kesseler put up a good show but the class of Calzaghe shone thro in the middle and at the end

I thought Kessler and Calzaghe had very similar styles. Calzaghe looked shaky in the earlier rounds when Kessler caught him with a few uppercuts, thats what makes Joe Calzaghe a champion, the ability to dig in and come through that sort of pressure and overcome

How did you get on ? Did you win a few bucks (virtual or real) on the fight ?

Watched the fight live and thought it was a great fight. The power of Kessler against the outstanding technical ability of Calzaghe. Thought Kessler would have gone for it more in the final 2 rounds, but Calzaghe seemed to have bossed the direction the whole fight was going. Well done JC.

The fight was ok, by no means a classic.
Well done to joe though, a living legend.
The thing that gets me though if it was a real fight, ie: to the end, last man standing I would fancy Kessler. Within boxing rules Joe won fair and square, but I dont think he ever looked like he could take the guy out.
    Thats just my opinion.

If we played for long enough Celtic would win every SPL match. They train for 12 rounds.

Sat up to watch it last night and was not disappointed. Great fight between 2 great fighters.

I think Calzaghe may have slightly underestimated Kessler by trying to be a bit too clever early on. Every time he tried to launch a big attack he was picked off by some great shots by the Dane. The uppercut in the 4th looked like it had him wobbling.

But after that Calzaghe kept his distance and just picked him off with good punches. Nothing too powerful but scoring punches. It was a very intelligent fight from Calzaghe, that was the difference. He could change his approach, Kessler didn't have a plan B.

All I'm saying is that I like fights to be finished. UFC does it for me. Too often boxing lets me down. These guys have so much more in them but restrict themselves to the rules. If yer gonna fight, then fight till its over. Points decisions dont really decide who's harder. Its boxing. I love a brawl I suppose.:50:

Boxing is an art, UFC is just trying to kill each other. Joe is a great technical fighter. He isn't a big hitter that relies on one punch to win him the fight. Remember Lewis Tyson? Lenny just jabbed him into submition. I though both fighters came forward the whole time and Kessler could have won it until the end. I thought it was a cracker. Worth me signing up to setanta anyway, more than most Celtic SPL games.
