Rent is expensive, 90% of it is a kip and the 10% that isn't is imaginary, you have made a grave mistake, I take pity on you and wish you well in your attempt to escape.

But seriously it all depends on the area you're in, there's always something to do if you're willing to travel into the city centre, rent is expensive in most places but I know * all about Glasnevin so I can't help you much. Where are you moving from ? what age are you ?

Not really, the tourist places like temple bar and them areas definitely overcharge but there are some pubs surrounding the liffey that can be alright, I think there are a few north siders on here that may have a better idea of that area, I rarely cross the river when I'm in there so don't know much.

Glasnevin is alright. It depends on how close you are to Finglas. That's a rough spot .

Pints are too expensive. Ireland in general is too expensive:rolleyes:

Why don't you try Meath or Kildare and just commute like a mad yank?

Its a kip, I lived there for a year and a half in a town called Blanchardstown. Couldn't wait to get out. Add to that the cost of rent and general day to day items doesnt make for a pleasant experience. Good luck

Oh dear, lived in Galway and Mayo before n loved it in the west, take it the dubs are not well liked by the rest of the counrty, much like the glaswegians in scotland!

Glasnevin is a * of a lot nicer than blanchardstown in fairness. I work in Dublin( right beside Glasnevin ) and have no problems with most of the dubs . So wouldn't let that put you off. Rent is very expensive though , there are loads of pubs in and around drumcondra, great craic and it's mostly all folk from the country that drink in them

My missus' family are from Finglas and most of them live in Blanchardstown now. Highly entertaining reading these responses.

I actually like Finglas and Blanch and most of Dublin to be fair. Dubs are a pain at times when they want to be but generally I don't mind the areas mentioned.

Dublin 4 and the areas that think they're Dublin 4 are serious thorns in Ireland's side, however.
