    There's an estimated 10 million people in England who are irish or of irish descent Ireland only has around 6 and a half and 1 million and a half over here are foreign

    A good 80% of them will support English teams though, if not more. I get that in Ireland football is probably the 3rd/4th most popular sport, but surely the number of Celtic fans in Ireland (despite the growing population) is falling. I'm taking it the Irish up north voted Ireland on the poll too, which is generally Celtic or Ze Huns depending on your background.

    In the Republic it won't drop any more all the fans left are probably the hardcore ones and I'd probably say 90+% in support of English teams besides celtic and maybe local teams which would be less then 20000 there's no other teams to support in the north the numbers will probably drop a good bit

    it's more likely less to do with these hardcore fans switching teams and more to do with their sons/daughters choosing a different team whilst growing up.

    Nothing but stick and ridicule for supporting celtic down here but I'd much rather take it and support a club I'm connected to and and love rather then just say I support a team just because they have a good team and don't have a clue about there history but in saying that the people who really * me off the most down here is people who say celtic is there second team and couldn't name a player off the team and know nothing about the club nor care

    Celtic is the best club for the Irish (and Irish diaspora) around the world. Compare that to Irish people who support Liverpool (A club founded by an Orangeman), well, they're not really worth talking about..
