That' s hardly a year on year trend . What did we do in Europe for the two years before that we got to the last 16. Go back to the start of this century in the Champions league we didn't get to the last 16 for the first 5 years . At least we have in the last five years. Murphy is it only Celtic you are negative about ? Or are you a glass half empty guy all the time .

Please stop the uber Celtic fan nonsense. Everything is not rosy in the garden all the time at Celtic, take your head out of the sand. The truth is, over the past three years, we have performed worse each time in the Champions League. That is a fact. Our Group the year we got to the last 16, was more difficult than last year's one also in my opinion. We were in a group that contained arguably the best team on the planet, a team that would go on to reach the Europa League final, and a Spartak team that had spent over £100m to asemble. Last year, all the teams we faced, were not the teams they once were, and we got pummeled. Then this year, we were comfortably beaten by Legia, and then also beaten by Maribor. That is due to is going backwards as a team.

The thing is, the fans should have seen this coming. When there is a man by the name of Neil Lennon, who would rather sit unemployed, than manage us, it speaks volumes for what is going on behind the scenes. Lennon saw this coming, and got out for fear of doing his reputation damage in my opinion.

I'm not negative about all things Celtic either. The board I have a problem with, and that is where pretty much all my anger has been vented. The way they have treated a section of our fans, has been a disgrace.

Had we signed a left back, I would have been very happy.

Well once again PL has pulled it out the bag (I am sure it is not all his doing he will have a team thats helping, but if he takes the blame when something goes wrong then I suppose its ok to give him all the credit, great well done) and got the fans and Manager some new blood that according to other threads everyone seems happy with. The only disappointment is we never got a LB and Ambrose is still taking a wage but Santa is just around the corner. So as stated above we have got new signings and we are showing we are learning from our previous mistakes - Pukki, Balde, sicknote etc etc and instead of shelling out good money our business plan is to see if they work out and if so then we part with the cash....great.

NOW - It's down to the manager to get his tactics correct and all of us to get behind the team because if CP is half empty for our games whilst we are playing good football etc etc then these loan signings will not stay so we really need to start as we mean to go on by having a great turn out for our next home game (Aberdeen). We can make these players want to stay.

    Hail Hail

On paper mate, I'll reserve judment until I see a good block of games before I declare Scepovic or Guidetti better than Hooper.

Absolutely, the only one who we really need to see replaced.

Forster has been easily replaced by Gordon as far as Im concerned.

We all know that a Kayal on full pelt could easily replace Wanyama for defensive duties, and that Johansen can definitely be as influential as Joe Ledley.

If Shep of Johnny B. Guid can emulate some of the goal scoring success of Hooper, whilst part of the new-look attacking Deila team, I'd cream in your pants tbh......

I actually disagree about Johansen. I think he and Ledley are different players, and in my opinion, Ledley was a far more effective one. Johansen hasn't shown me anything thus far to suggest he is as influential as Ledley was for us. That might change over time of course.

I don't think Kayal can quite boss the midfield like Wanyama either, but I do rate Kayal very highly.

Kayal won't be as effective as Wanyama on the big stage, in my opinion, Wanyama could bully players with his sheer presence but at his best he is immense, no doubt.

Johansen and Ledley aren't comparable for me, sounds daft both being left footed centre mids but Ledley's full game was totally different than Johansen, Johansen tries to take the game by the scruff of the neck and Ledley was all about making everybody about him play better and pop up with goals every now and again. I can't get the job that Ledley did on Xavi out of my head. Not saw such a masterclass positionally and defensively since Paul Lambert was here.

Hooper... Well Hooper was just Hooper, clinical as *.

It's different but it could work, can be very good, but I'm stoll reserving judgement.

Forster and Gordon... I've far more faith in Forster, shot stopping wise but Gordon collecting crosses and bossing his box. Get a semi every time :56:

Johansen HAS shown he has the dig, can pick out killer passes, can burst forward, and can get himself into goalscoring positions, just like Joe.

Yeah I have to agree, I really like Johansen and think he'll be a great player for us but I don't think we've replaced Joe Ledley with him. Ledley was a unsung hero and one of the most intelligent players I've ever seen especially when covering the left back when they went forward. Johansen can pick a pass puts in a lot of effort and has good movement, but I think his defensive intelligence is nothing on Joe's and can sometimes lead to an opposition goal.
