His energy and work rate redeem him though in the eyes of a lot of our supporters.

Will Lawwell:

1. Replace VVD with another loanee making our squad a * soulless embarassment joke club fit for the English lower leagues;
2. Replace VVD with a handful of diddies that're half the player (c.f. Hooper);
3. Replace VVB with no-one, instruct Deila to play Mulgrew at CB (the usual policy if we can't replace a player in any given position i.e. Wanyama) and make sure Deila repeatedly comments on us signing Denayer?

 

3 is cheapest, as a loanee's wages would have to be paid by us. So that's my bet.

Him and Mikael Lustig are a head and shoulders above the rest of our players, both of them are too good for us I'm afraid. VVD will be offski before the end of the week. * gutted.

 

The only positive I can see is that selling him means we have to fork out money for players, whether it be a few hundred thousand or a couple of million.

Van Dijk is the only player of any real worth in the squad, the rest are either of low market value or are here on loan and hence worthless to us (and actually in the long run might cost the board money as they take up squad positions of potential assets but hey let's see where it takes us ).

If we're to continue this policy of buying players on the cheap, developing them and selling them on then we need to restack our shelves as right now our squad is jam-packed full of worthless mediocrity.
