I don't get the hype surrounding him yet. His positioning at times is awful, allowing the guy's he's marking goallside, happened for the goal as weel, where he could've been sent off if another player didn't come and score.

His style of play with the way he positions himself is very risky.

He needs to toughen up and sort out his positional play no doubt but he is definitely a real good player.. Him and virgil once they develop an understanding, i think will be a quality partnership..

    Delighted for him.

Feel for Efe though because I have a soft spot for the guy but the team comes first at the end of the day. Hope Efe doesn't get pushed out the frame too much though.

I checked your score before coming on to check how Denayer had played only to find out he didn't even play. What happened guys was there alot of changes? Was this because of CL games?

It's a good sign he didn't play today. He was rested for our biggest game of the season by far on Tuesday.

Yeah 10 changes, he's made a couple of mistakes so far but does look a lot more assured than our other CB ambrose, he will play on Tuesday I would imagine

    * shame we didn't play him tonight. I thought he was brought in for this competition? May as well send him back to Manchester! Berget to Cardiff too while we're at it.

I kind of agree since he probably won't be here next year. I would like to sign 2 CB's and a defensive midfielder if VVD leaves in the next 2 transfer windows and let them develop an understanding so we have a settled defence for the next qualifiers.

We may as well start building for the future now. Only problem is, I can't see the board spending enough.

Good article about the successful academy he came from.

Must be a place a lot of clubs look at for youngsters due to the history of players coming out of there.

He'll be on the phone greetin to Man City after this to take him back, probably never seen a team who plays so wide open in his puff.

The saying is usually "baptism of fire" his has been like baptism of volcano, tornado and earthquake.

Him and Virgil at CB all season please. Ambrose has gone to * and O'Connell looks atrocious.

He must be absolutley * himself though, I think that was his 3rd game and this game and the one against Dundee Utd we allowed him to be left alone most of the game and teams could just play 1 pass forward and have * rampaging forward with gaps everywhere.

He probably thought he was coming up here to stroll games barely having to defend and he's came up and we've left the flood gates open and allowed anycunt to have a go at us.

Don't know what to think of him.

As I said before, he's too small. He very rarely wins headers and that's a huge problem. Looks good on the deck, though.

Didn't have his finest game today but he was forever having to deal with the gaps created by Izzy's runs forward that are normally covered by the more intelligent and imposing Van Dijk; and he played the second half alongside O'Connell – who didn't really put a foot wrong and did pretty well but still a very young and unfamiliar CB pairing – so I can excuse him the off-day. No excuse for his atrocious heading in the first half though, but he seemed to sort it out 2nd half so fair play.

Leaving Van Dijk out just exposed how awful the defence is as a unit without him; not that Lawwell will care.
