out of all those players only one is a guaranteed starter, out of the whole list i would only want van dijk and johansen, so really it would have freed up over 7m to spend but instead of buying 5 or 6 1m players we need 3 or 4 quality players, they may cost a little more but we need first team players not more squad deadwood.

My point is that our transfer policy is wrong and we need investment in quality if you look at that list of players only three of the eight have proven they have the quality it takes to play for celtic. Outside those three there has been £6 million on players who have not got celtic or champions league quality or they have yet to show it why could we not have bought a £4 million player who has proven quality and can improve the team?

So less than what we got for Wanyama, a single player. That's not taking into account ticket sales, merchandise sales, jersey sales, every other player sold and back-to-back Champions League revenue.

Our squad is really struggling quality wise and we could probably do with more numbers in central defence and left back.

A realistic scenario is to sell Forster and Commons for a combined £15m and give Deila about £8-10m to reinvest. Honestly though we probably need at least 4 quality players to be remotely competitive in the CL. 1 striker, competition at lb and cb, and one wide player.

 

And a central midfielder.

We need at minimum a Ledley replacement and a Common compliment.

Could have had Gilardino for 4 million, * all resale but less risky than 3 unknown strikers for over 1m each.
