Over the last few years our club has struck up a friendship with the catalan giants, when they pay visit (and hopefully pump) our oldest rivals do you think that we should allow them use of our 'state of art' training facilities (as the huns did with Blackburn)?
Surely once they get a peek of what our club is striving for maybe they could strike up a more formal arrangement wereby we could get loan of thier brightest prospects?....
it would save us millions in transfers...waddaya all think?

Brian Quinn and Joan Laporta struck up a friendship a few years ago,the game Douglas got sent off I think and after meeting and the Laporta gave Quinn his word that Celtic would have first or second offfer on some of there players being loaned or signed from there.I.E. thats how we nearly signed saviola(reportedly) on a loan deal before he joined Monaco

I don't think it can do us any harm to try and cultivate good relations with the clubs at the top of the tree.

Pauloantony, I think that would be a smashin idea.
Over recent years through playing Barca and learning a little of each others history, both fans have seen similarities in their clubs background's, some sort of bond does exist IMO.
I've started watching barca on a regular basis on sky sports, and have been to the nou camp twice in the past two years.
I'm sure xavi is quoted as having an affinity with our club for the reasons i've mentioned.

The Celtic Song so long as Dean Park doesn't sing it.
I haven't heard of this friendship but if true then great. I have heard that Rangers tops are not allowed inside Barcelona's stadium when people visit outwith matchdays. That in itself is a basis for a long term friendship in my book.

Also the people of Barcelona loved to have us in their city. It was great to see the citizens of Barcelona going about their normal day to day business with a Celtic scarf around them with big smiles on their faces. I know we are welcomed in every city we play, but Barcelona I felt was just a cut above.

It would be good if we could take some of their youth players on loan like Bojan and Dos Santos

Don't know about anything been very formal in terms of a relationship between the 2 clubs. But if that was to develop I would be all for it. I have always had a soft spot for Barcelona due to their similar history politically and the whole Franco Real Madrid facist connection.
They also have a long tradition of playing open very attractive football which is enjoyable to watch. So here's to hoping they can really give the huns a doing home and away.

yeah thats what i remembered...after our UEFA cup game then the cl ties laporter had been quoted in maybe making a formal tie up between our clubs and that they would actively recommend ourselves entry to that elite club group (g14)is it??

We strike up an affinity with most clubs we play as our fans are the best in the world pure and simple. I'd like to think we have a relationship with Spartak now as well after our game a couple weeks ago, i think we left a lasting impression on anyone that heard and felt the atmosphere we generated!

With regards to Barca, they have so much talent at their disposal sitting in the stands and at their b team that could do a job for us it would be silly not to try and tie in with them even casually.

We should get a friendship with Milan and Inter and Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and.......then we could get the crop of their youngsters on loan and when we get drawn against them in the CL we'll be well and truely * if they refuse to let their boys play.

nope ...sorry guys looks like Ajax have stole the way.....

Barcelona and Ajax strike accord in enhancing senior and youth team player crossover.

Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam have concluded a pact and understanding for active cooperation between the two clubs which will not only enable smoother transfer of players between both clubs, but also ensure easier maccess of abundant youth talents that the two clubs, especially Barcelona are in possession of.

The agreement also covers technical cooperation, market prospecting and medical services between the clubs as well as other areas necessary to the development of management and player welfare. The deal has been enhanced by the presence of Ajax technical official who is known to former Ajax captain and present Barcelona Coach, Frank Rijkaard. Both men have the legendary Johan Cruyff as their external advisers for the deal, and Cruyff himself is also an Ajax and Barcelona legend.

Ajax Technical Director, Martin Van Gaal also sought to know the possibility of Thiago Motta or Ezquerro moving from Barcelona to Ajax following the success of Gabri. The ajax man also sort to know if Barca B players like Mark Crosas and Giovanni can be available to the Dutch giants soon.
However, their particular interest lies in securing the services of youth great, Bojan Krkic, who the Amsterdam kings have been trailing for a long time.

Barcelona could give no official word on the players, especially on young Bojan, who the Catalans don't want to toy with as he is considered very important to them. Even if a deal is made on Bojan, Barca plans it should such a deal that can ensure the starlet returns to Barcelona whenever required and not to be sent away from Camp Nou on a permanent basis like they did to Fran Merida and others. <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_299296-->

before celtic v barca a few years ago in tribute to the victims of the madrid train bombings that day celtic played no music pre match bar one song, Youll Never Walk Alone which was dedicated to the victims of the disaster. Laporta described it as beautiful and now Youll Never Walk Alone can be heard playing in the nou camp pre match
