To be honest i think naylor has nobody to compete with him on the left.I actually think when Wilson played left side he looked a far better player than he does on the right, maybe it because it was a relief to fill that spot. When wilson comes back i stick him back on the left to give naylor the much needed kick up the * and play doumbe where he is because he 's looked good there

Another good performance at home from the bhoys.

First half was a bit flat, Dundee Utd offered absolutely nothing going forward. I thought McGeady had possibly his best game this season, or maybe any other season. He was fantastic and I've often been his biggest critic. But credit where it's due.

McDonald was great as well, with a poachers hat trick. The sort of goals that look easy but you need to be in the right place at the right time to score them and we didn't have a striker like that last season.

Killen struggled when he came on for Jan and after missing an easy chance in the first half he looked a bit laboured. I think it's going to take time for him to get used to the pressure of expectation at Celtic.

The beasties dropped points and I met Lorraine Kelly, saturdays don't get much better. :icon_mrgreen:

I have only seen the goals but its interesting that Aidan is meant to have had one of his best ever games and he was for once played on the right. Anyone who saw the whole game think this was signficant? I have been thinking for a while that we need to test out Aidan by putting him there for a few games. I dont rate him very highly in most games he plays on the left but it is tricky crossing at speed with your weaker foot. Its no great loss that he cant cut in to shoot so much on the right cause he doesnt have much of a shot anyway. If playing him on the right means he gets lots of crosses in from nearer the byline then that would be fanstastic cause its much easier to defend deep crosses than ones from near the byline. Just look at the chaos it causes our defense when wide players get beyond out FBs. I can see a future maybe with Aidan on the right and another fast natural left footer on the left. For now, I would swap his and Naka's wings around.

I agree with Keltoi I woulkd like to see McGeady played on the right and when Nakamura is fit again put him over onto the left or at least let them switch a bit during games.

I didn't see the game but from what i have heard/read Mcgeady had a stormer on the right, If Naka is fit i reckon Strachan will put him back on the right, if not the Mcgedy might get a few games under his belt on the right to impress, i can't (off the top of my head) how Naka play's on the left wing or if he can for that matter. Good to see Joe had a good game as well wilson looks set to out for a good few weeks so its good to see he's stepped into the Right back position.

I wondr if he does continue to impress when Wilson comes back will he (Joe) get shunted to the left back position to give Naylor a break?

have seen the game now. Was a contained performance of the type that does well in Europe but gets fans impatient. Thought a lot of players played well. Skippy was superb. Aidan did look more comfortable on the right. He played very well but I would have liked to have seen him beat the fullback and whip a few more in. Doumbe looked very good in defence and attack, a lot better than we have seen from Wilson for a year. Whole defence looked solid. Only serious failure was Donati who has played poorly in the last 3 or 4 now. The formation of the midfield 4 was odd with Hartley and Donati alternating in centre and left. Was that a diamond formation? It looked like it at times.
