Ambrose or Kelvin Wilson?

With Efe transfer rumours flying about I've seen comparisons between him and Kelvin Wilson as to who is/was the better player.

So who would you rather have at CB beside VVD?

Efe edges it for me but it's close

I Like Both. Ambrose is definetely better footballer, he can play CB, RB, even CDM. His dribbling, shot is massively in front of Kelvin.

Their pace is equal I think.

BUT, Kelvin is in my eyes a better CB, incredibly solid, much stronger and he can lead.

 

Efe by quite a distance.

 

Wilson for me. The guy was * immaculate in his last season at Celtic. Bags of pace and composure, can't really recall him * up in that season, looked the part against top opposition. Main issue was his lack of dominance in the air, and lack of aggression. Ambrose is the better footballer of the two without question, but who would I rather have at the back, Wilson all day long, Ambrose is a * bombscare, would probably be a cracking holding midfielder though.

 

Wilson,vvd and efe in the squad would be awesome.

 

Ambrose although they do have similarities..

Both fast and have good recovery pace, wilsons recovery tackles were outstanding at times..
Both weak against strong strikers and Wilson dreadful in the air, ambrose is good at getting his nut on the ball.but woeful at judging flights and where he's heading the ball..
Wilson was poor and.didn't like the ball much.to feet, ambrose loves it on the deck and beating a man, just * it up 90% of the time by the halfway line when he get there and is out of.position..

Wilson come on to a game in his second year and overall did well, wasn't always convinced or.confident with him and the same applies to.ambrose but ambrose is the better player, no doubt..

 

Wilson by a distance the guy was superb in his last season here, nice to see he finally let Messi out of his pocket coz he was wonderful in that game at the Nou Camp

 

Efe's an all round better player for me and although he can be prone to moments of madness I'd say he's more reliable as well. Wilson had some howlers here.

 

Who would I rather have beside Virgil? Efe and Virgil are great together, so Efe.

However, I loved Wilson. He cruised through games with minimal effort and was a joy to watch. I was gutted he left and didn't think we'd be able to replace him with anyone near as good. I think he's a better defender than Efe.

 

Kelvin Wilson. Ambrose * terrfies me when hes near the ball tbh bt i do like the big bombscare.

 

Hmmm good question. Wilson was a better defender, both are quick but I just love Ambrose for some reason, he's cool as *. :icon_mrgreen:

Ambrose can score goals as well.

Would have loved a Wilson-VVD-Efe back 3, but we got a good £2.5 million for him.

 

For me I think Wilson is the better defended but Efe is the better player. I'd be tempted to say Wilson as he's more reliable, but Ambrose offers something else, plus if we're talking about a partner for VVD Ambrose has struck up a good partnership over the past year.

 

Ambrose has been great alongside both Wilson and VVD.

I'd take either of them really, fan of both.

You'd think Efe cost us 3 goals a game going by some people in his transfer thread though.

People that claim to '* themselves' when the ball is near him obviosuly have forgotten the years before him.

Wilson/Ambrose and now VVD/Ambrose is the only partnerships for a long time I have felt confident about at champions league level

 

Wilson is a better defender and I'd feel more comfortable with him playing against top opposition in Europe. I like Ambrose though, think its overlooked at times how important it is for a centre back to be comfortable on the ball, particularly on a team that plays out from the back like us, and Efe is most definitely that.

 

Ambrose all day long. I loved Wilson, I thought he was outstanding a couple of seasons ago but I love defenders like Ambrose and Van Dijk who want to play a bit as well instead of just wanting to defend. Not saying that Wilson wasn't capable of that but yeno what I mean
