I agree with that. Our first choice 11 is a decent enough team but the cover for most positions other than centre back is poor.

That could be true, since we know no one's perfect and our team could still improve by certain factors. On the other hand Strachan's team has been very successfull and that's why he doesn't change the broader picture much.

I expected a similar thing and there were some rumours about riordan's ("unhealthy") private life. but what if we are going too far, if there's a normal sporty reason for that. I dare to say WGS knows deeks the best, he's able to observe him day in day out, he trains with him. what if riordan is totally inconstant? what if his abilities are not as good as we thought? he wouldn't be the first player joining an OF side and sitting on the bench all the time.

As I said, we can only speculate and as long as WGS's successfull with the team (it's finally playing some great football too!!!) I won't question his decisions. after all, I'm a celtic supporter not a Riordan groupie.

@ Paul, I agree with you. I'd like to see some new players joining us to push or boost our "regulars"

Big Deeks supporter right here! If you call 2 minutes against Hibs a good enough opportunity to show yer stuff, then.......*. I think the lad is an excellent player and we cannot afford to lose him. But let's forget about Riordan fer now, get Naylor the * out! :31:

He is a first class player with a wild streak. If Strachan was a good man manager he would see this and sort it.

He deserves a run in the team. He will score goals and he is the best finisher at the club. :50:

Sorry not read all the thread - supposed to be working!

Anyway I just thought I'd say I thought Riordan was one of our better players last night (not quite up there with skippys performance) in fact if this was football manager he would have got an 8 were it not for the penalty miss!

He brought a magnificent attacking option to the left side. Some of his balls were deadly (albeit using his right but his left foot aint bad either)

    AND

he got into some really dangerous positions and may have scored were his luck in / if he was match sharp (remember he hasnt started /appeared in many games)

    AND

His defensive tracking back was very good if not better than McGeadys normal efforts.

FFS get off the guys back half the folk here are saying he 'had the chance to shine and blew it' No way jose, you cant base a chance on 2 minutes versus hibs and 1 game in a tough away fixture against a team with nothing to lose. He showed that even without games he can bring a LOT to the team - imagine him after 7 or 8 games (like Venegoor & Skippy) have had - he will be pinging the goals in. Oh and also with Naka injured he is surely our best set piece taker at the moment?

Im a deeks fan, but the lack of games showed, if you play in the reserves and get what 3/4 games in the 1st team then it's * obvious your not going to be up to speed with the game saying that i thought he played ok considering, same old story you either like or loathe them and Deeks falls into this category with a lot of people, give the boy a run and then decide if he's good enough or not, 90 mins against a 1st division team ain't enough to be judging the boy's talent on

I have no idea what GS SB etc. means!! Maybe am fick :84:

I agree with those who say that whatever is going on between WGS and Deeks should be settled and if not show him the door. Whatever it is it's bound to be messing with his head and if he's not in the right frame of mind his performances are going to be affected. I just hope when he goes he doesn't come back to haunt us :87:

Yeh Riordan is rubbish, because he didnt perform well against a fired up Physical team and its not as if it was his first first team apperacne in ages and that he would feel the pressure or anything.

Tell me how u can expect someone to play well at the first opportunity when he's been left to rot on the bench for so long.....his confidence will probably be low and it should be - after all, didnt he score 7 goals in 10 starts last season? goals per game ratio he's our best goal scorer and still doesn't get a decent chance, yet we have players who have not done enough but still get picked b4 him (zurawski + killen)

Strachan should give him a run in the team, what we got to lose? our strikers don't seem to be doing the business when it counts just now, maybe that would give them the kick up the * they need!!!

Riordan needs to get a good run of games in his position, STRIKER! Not the occasional game against the likes of St mirren and dundee and not on the wing,

    :50:spot on.

alot of folk are missing the point mate....
he was a 20-30 goals a year 'striker' for hibs but strach continues to play him out of position on the left wing.
stick JVOH out there ...how many goals do you think he would score?

top goalscorer at hibs in his last 3 seasons (as a striker)2005 young player of the year and won his only cap for scotland.....
offered the chance to go tp kaiserslautern,PSV eindhoven, and anderlecht...oh how that boy must regret being convinced by strachan.
