Stokes or Griffiths

What exactly has Griffiths achieved at Celtic to merit that, though?
I can only think some people have voted for him because they see some potential there and some (undoubtedly) because they don't like Stokes.

I'm not Stokes' biggest fan, but he really does get taken for granted on here sometimes. Stokes is relatively young too and can also go on to improve. He's only two years older than Griffiths yet Griffiths consistently gets judged with the leniency afforded young prospects, while Stokes is always judged as a mature player.

Personally, I'd have to vote for Stokes, by quite a distance.

It's fans opinions. People can fling stats and say they're right for thinking Stokes is the better player. There's been two polls on here asking who people think is the better striker and Griffiths has won both. Why does there have to be some sort of agenda?

I'm not flinging stats, I'm asking a simple question: what exactly has Griffiths achieved at Celtic to deserve to win that vote?

Surely it is unarguable that Stokes has achieved far more here.

If people are looking at potential with Griffiths, then why not afford Stokes the same courtesy? He's only 2 years older.

 

What are you on about mate. It's not just about there time at Celtic. The op just asked who was the better player. I've seen Griffiths play for Sunderland Dundee and Wolves now his short time at Celtic and he's the better player. Most people agree. 2 threads about who's better and again Griffiths comes out on top.

 

I've not seen him for Sunderland or Wolves. I haven't seen anything that special from him yet in his time at Celtic. He's looked a decent player, no more. Stokes has consistently got goals and assists over a sustained period of time. Seems odd to me that this has been overlooked by so many. The fact that a (relatively small) majority disagree, doesn't mean they're right just by dint of being a majority. They still need to back their choice up.

 

Well either bring something to the table or go back and talk about wrestling or xboxes.

 

Griffiths is a * and anyone is well within their rights to be 'offended' or maybe take exception to his conduct would be a more appropriate term to use.

Stokes is a superior player.

I'm not upset, my team just progressed into the next round of the Champions league.

 

Stupid to compare the two players achievements when one has been here 6 months the other 4 years.

Your back talking about Celtic only again there mate ^. Griffiths has been consistent with goals and assists over sustained period of time as well. You may not have seen much of Griffiths outside of Celtic but a lot of us have.

You may not have seen anything special from him but a never seen anything special from Stokes in the time the Thumbs been here either. Both played great though in the second half of last season. Stokes more so as you would expect from someone that's been here for as long as he has and Griffiths just coming in. But for someone that just joined a think he deserves a lot of credit for hitting the ground running as quick as he did. Stokes was * fantastic at the start of last season. I remember his performance against Hearts at Tynecastle in particular quite easily one of the best individual performances of last season. On that form I don't think Griffiths even comes close to him.

 

Fair enough if you've watched Griffiths in lots of live games before he came to Celtic, I'd never seen him apart from obviously against us. The thing is, we've all seen Stokes at Celtic quite regularly for some time now; I bet only a small number of those who voted for Griffiths have seen more than a handful of his games before he came here. Watching highlights isn't the same.

So I'm still puzzled by the poll result.

Anyone can register for a forum and cast a vote, i would argue this poll isn't a true representation of the Celtic support. Anthony Stokes is the best striker in Scottish football.

You keep saying that as if it were some kind of valid argument.

1) It's a ridiculously small sample of the fanbase.
2) It may not be a representative sample, given both the tiny sample size and the nature of message boards.
3) Even if it does accurately represent the views of the Celtic support, majorities aren't always right.
4) It's not even a particularly large majority.

What point are you making by continually saying this?
