    You'll Never Walk alone..
to be quite frank,i was appalled with the shape of the squad at the end of the window!in pre-season we had a really strong squad, competition for every position, now two of our best players on their day, have both left, miller and gravesen!not only that, but we brought no one in!i mean how naive do the celtic board think we the supporters are?no matter what bullshit they blabber on about tv money,we still our one of the biggest supported clubs in the world, and in merchandise sales alone, would be in the millions!all i can see is the fans are getting ripped off, while dermot desmond and co are getting richer!i mean why can't the board just really excite the fans and bring in 3 top quality players!i mean the financial rewards would be there!i mean we could be guarenteed the last 16 every year! we have a world-class keeper,so another defender, central midfielder and forward!i mean im not getting carried away, and talking 20 million per player,im talking 5,6million per player!i mean we cud have brought in the likes of bellamy, appiah, riquelme,or even adriano on loan!we need to think big,i mean the chris killens and evander snos of this world, aren't going to push celtic forward!
i mean lets be realistic, rangers have a stronger squad than us this year!
i mean they beat stuttgart, and their bench was impressive as well-cousin,boyd,buffell,beasley,naismith,mc culluch!i mean our bench against hibs, looked unexciting and unimpressive!can sno change a game?,can killen change a game?if these guys cant change a game in the spl, they cant do it in the champions league!
why are we waiting till january?we needed the players in now to progress, and still be in it in january!

I see what you "mean" :56:

seriously, GS had money to spend and said publicly that the players he wanted, he just couldn't get for whatever reason and would return in January to see if their situation had changed. Spending that money elsewhere is pointless if there's a chance he can secure his first choice players

I have made this point before.

In my opinion the board viewed our euro opponents and took the view we would not progress. I feel that is why we have had no top money signings.

I fear January will be too late. We will be out of Europe and second in the league.

    I sincerely hope I am wrong but.........:54::54::54:

I think the board have done an excellent job of bringing us from the debt-ridden days to the days when we are in the strongest financial state I have ever known. The board have backed WGS on all the players he wanted.

We cannot force players to come to Celtic Park, and we cannot break the bank or the wage budget either for primadonnas.

I think taking our frustration's out on the board is wrong. We have had a bad week at the office, lets not panic....
we have a strong young and exciting squad of players who are playing exciting and entertaining fooball. We have a magnificent board who are prepared to back the manager for players and ambition. We have the best fans in the world.

lets take the results on the chin, have a wee moan at the players and the tactics, and move on....:celt_2:

i said at a minute past midnight when the transfer window closed that we'd blown it.
squad isnt strong enough in attack and defence, midfield isnt too bad.
i take no pleasure in feeling correct at the minute, but we shouldnt be losing to anyone in the spl. i know thats a big ask but thats how i feel. scottish fitba is crap we all know it. how we supposed to get excited about possibly beating ac milan, benfica and * donuts, when we cant beat a side who supposedly sold most of their best players, is it tactical or motivational, mibbees some players believe they just have to turn up to win.
i hope to * its spelled out clearly in case they are unsure.
    NOT * GOOD ENOUGH.

    Any decent supporter must either:

    Question the board or
    Question the manager

I feel that the "dyed in the wool" supporter is taking a blinkered view of what's on offer. We are not a great side.

One of the two above is to blame.

we r a big team in a small league, we spend within our means.

the board i feel don't work hard enough in finding other revenue sources ut i'm no expert. as someone said already we can't force players to come to Scotland. If we offer the big wages we end up going back to massive debts ad still won't win the CL. I think we have to put up with what we have or give up on it all? I'm happy to get behind the players we have and hope they can rise to new levels..

The Celtic Song so long as Dean Park doesn't sing it.
Since we are on about money, I picked this up from the MSN homepage today. Celtic aren't quoted and guess who are so I would be interested to find out what our turnover was in 2006. Anybody know?

    Arsenal
The Gunners' new stadium, which has proven to be an excellent investment for the team. Latest figures reveal the club's turnover has broken £200 million without coming near the budget for new talent. The move to the Emirate's stadium from Highbury means the Gunners are generating more than £3m a game, although just who is paying £92 for a seat at a game is a mystery.
    06/07 revenue: €286.8 million

    Manchester United
United fell to fourth place on the 2007 Football Money League, despite remaining the most profitable football club in the world. Their comparatively lowly position was thanks largely to an indifferent 2005/06 season (they were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage). However, a successful campaign on the pitch last season, plus the expansion of Old Trafford, a more lucrative sponsorship deal with AIG and increased TV money should see them challenging Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the list once again in 2008.

    05/06 revenue: €242.6 million

    Chelsea
One man who definitely isn’t in the football business to make a profit is Roman Abramovich. He’s splashed out again this summer on Florent Malouda and Alex, although the activity was to nowhere near the same extent as in previous transfer windows. The Champions League is the holy grail, as is raising their profile elsewhere in the world, hence their summer tours to Asia and the US.

    05/06 revenue: €221 million

    Liverpool
The George Gillett/Tom Hicks takeover in March meant Liverpool had money to invest again in the transfer market. Perhaps more crucially for their longer-term prospects, plans have just been unveiled for a new 60,000-capacity stadium. With Anfield currently sold out every game, the extra seats can’t come quick enough. Another great performance in last season’s Champions League also boosted the club’s coffers.

    05/06 revenue: €176 million

    Newcastle
The Magpies were another club who seemed to be on the up financially following sportswear mogul Mike Ashley’s takeover. However, higher than expected levels of debt have led to some concerns. Despite this, an extremely loyal set of fans means games are always well attended and there are plans to expand St James’ Park. A Champions League place at the end of the season would reward everyone for their investment in the club.

    05/06 revenue: €124.3 million

    Spurs
Tottenham may always miss out on that coveted Champions League place, but that doesn’t stop them having a high turnover. White Hart Lane is always packed with a loyal fan base, but plans to raise capacity to 50,000 are in the pipeline. Although with significantly smaller capacity than Arsenal it may only be a matter of time before another new stadium in North London is on the cards.

    05/06 revenue: €107.2 million

    Manchester City
A controversial takeover and a spiralling pile of debts - it’s a good job the team got off to a good start in the Premier League. City announced a £7.1 million loss in the six months to November 2006 and it will be interesting to see if Thaksin Shinawatra plugs the holes.

    05/06 revenue: €89.4 million

    Rangers
Despite losing out on the field to Glasgow rivals Celtic for the last two seasons, the Gers have actually made more money off it. Despite this, large debts mean they can’t compete in the transfer market and they are hoping a place in the Champions League group stage will give them a much-needed windfall.

    05/06 revenue: €88.5 million

    West Ham
Having endured a summer of headlines about everything but football, the Hammers will be glad the new season is here. The takeover by a consortium headed by Icelander Eggert Magnusson injected some much needed funds into the club. But the biggest boost to the club’s coffers was their last-day survival in the Premier League.

    05/06 revenue: €60.1 million

Our T/O was £75mil (110mil euros) to august 07' so its about that figure for 06'

I think were overkilling it here due to the two defeats from last week, if it continues for a few weeks THEN we should be shittin it!

I do agree though, our squad doesnt have depth in it. not enough quality cover in all depts. this will become apparent when a few players drop out with injuries..:87::87:

    Then what

Scott Brown has already shown his worth and im sure will continue to do so at ALL levels including europe. Just cos we played * against that mob in europe and were unfortunate with artur's blunders against hibs doesnt make broony not worth the money we paid for him!!!
Ffs give the lad a chance , he's not even been here for half a season and ppl are writing him off already. get a grip , Scott Brown was worth EVERY penny we paid for him and in todays transfer market probably a lot more. If he was playing down south he'd be worth a small fortune so in effect we actually got him on the cheap if you look at the price teams have paid for certain players that dont have the talent and drive and ambition that broony has.
Just cos we signed him from hibs hes not worth 4.4??? Where is the sense in that statement?
Every player starts somewhere and to say that cos a player plays for hibs then there is no way he can be worth that amount is just plain stupid and obviously a statement you have not put much thought into. Go on then, just how much ,in your expert opinion IS Scott brown worth?

(bearing in mind he only played for that wee * team hibs that have not got ANY players worth 4.4m, you know the team that are so full of cheap mediocre players that could NEVER be good enough to warrant paying 4.4m for, you know, the team that knocked us off top spot in the spl!! You obviously havent seen them play this year or last year for that matter as they were one of the best passing teams of the season last year and then after being totally decimated by ourselves and the currant buns they bring through ANOTHER crop of young players who are doin the exact same thing this year and that is keeping the ball on the deck, passing it about with ease, always have an outlet for the man on the ball and can score a few goals too so for you to say that Scott brown was not worth it or that it was a blunder on our part paying 4.4million is absurd and you obviously have no knowledge of the game or you are just ignorant but either way Scott Brown has been excellent for us for the most part this season and im sure will continue to be so and he will get better with a few seasons in paradise under his belt so please think about what you say before you open your gub in future as you are makin no sense with comments like "no hibs player is worth that money" or that we got robbed.
We paid what he was worth and tbh i think he is probably going to be worth 1 1/2 times if not double his transfer fee in 2 yrs time.
What is it with some of our fans? loads of us (not me although he was gettin on) couldnt wait to see the back of Lennon and now we have Brown and Donati starting to build what looks like a good working relationship in the middle of the park with one covering the others * should he decide to venture forward and making a good job of it and they have only been in the same team a matter of months. It is a recipie for a strong attacking midfield that gets up to support the forwards and at the same time not leave big gaps through the middle and thats not even mentioning hartley (game against donestk not included we just underestimated them as we scored 15 goals in our previous 3 games and were riding high)
So all of that just to say leave broony alone he will prove his worth tenfold in the years to come:50:
