Well I for one would welcome him here with open arms, so I hope he decides Celtic are his best move. If a success here he will be worshiped!

I can only assume that there is a translation problem when you say 'phenomenal doping' - what does this mean, because it could imply something different here!

You're right about celtic being mainly catholics and rangers protestant, although its not always as simple as that. Apart from that, everybody associated with rangers are ugly and smell!! :86:

Local club, Cracovia Krakow and another one from Warsaw, Legia, but it's more a kind of traditional hatred between cities than clubs. (Krakow used to be the capital, the oldest city of ours and beautifully preserved, like Prague ; worth visiting ).

"Phenomenal doping"....Hmmm, I wanted to say, that you are very, very loud when you sing at the stadium.

    Phenomenal- fantastic, loud, great...whatever :D.
Doping- means in Poland singing for your club. It can also mean using same forbidden medications by sportsmans, but I used this word in the first meaning.

Hey guys, don't forget Arka Gdynia and Lech Poznan [IMG] BIG TIME!!!.

And I would not call relations with Legia as hatered comparable to the one shared with so called sissy Triad (Cracovia, Arka, Lech). Respect and competition are better words to name Wisla-Legia theses days I think.

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

My biggest worry over the Zura transfer is that he and his agent now know what other teams have to better contract and wages wise to sign him. The fact Celtic are after him should have alerted a few other clubs, especially as he has not signed and returned home. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, I hope he does sign, he looks the type of quality player we need.

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

So according to this paper he's getting 30,000 euros a week (about 24,000 pounds). Thats a great offer, and the length is 4 years from what I heard.

If he doesn't sign for us then he's losing out big time!!! Champions league football, one of the biggest fan bases in the world, 2nd largest football stadium in Britain (after Old Trafford) and the thrill of the Old Firm derbys.

I have a slight hunch these aspects of Celtic FC might tempt him toward signing for such a great club:86:

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

These are rumours. Nothing is known for sure. After first day of negotiations Polish guys were really pist off. Why? Because of the initial Celtic offer (closer to the 10k pounds/week, signing fees and length of the contract) and difficulties in negotiations. From CFC side negotiation were led by Fin. Manager (whoever it is) who was not authorised to make any changes to the initial offer so every time they agreed something the guy representing Celtic had to give a phone call to Lowwell asking for acceptance. Zurawski doesn't speak English, so every word had to be translated by Wdowczyk. That's why on Tuesday it took almost 5 hours to discuss only key contract issues and agreement has not been reached. On a second day Zurawski has been offered new "improved" contract and they end up with something which could be seen as a agreement. There is still a lot of details which need to be discussed and agreed. Separate issue is agreement between Celtic and Wisla. Why Zurawski needs 7 days to think about contract? As I said there are still some minor contract issues which needs to be resolved (but it could be done remotely) and probably (I’m guessing) Zurawski needs to talk to Wisla owner about to whom he wants to sell Zurawski. I'm almost 100% that they will agree that Celtic is very reliable business partner and Magic will be allowed to travel back to Glasgow and sign the contract.

So... everybody take a deep breathe and relax... everything gonna be fine

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

Zurawski gave an interview to "Gazeta Wyborcza" today.

Here I quote some of the most interesting parts of it (i'll translate :) ):

    Biggest benefits of this offer?
    - A great club with traditions wants me. A club which has ambitious aims (or maybe purposes? correct me if i use bad word), wonderful sport base, modern stadium. There is 60 000 pepole on every match. It's completely different world.
So what r u thinking about? R u affraid of adjustment, which took you so long after move from Lech Poznan to Wisla?

-What adjustment! This is not a problem, I'm mature player. I've played not only in Polish league, but also in european competitions as well as in national team. If I coped with it in these competitions, why I wouldn't (perhaps I should use inversion- wouldn't I instead of I wouldn't, please correct me :D ) be able to do that in Celtic? I wonder of terms in my contract in new club. Although, nothing has been determined yet, I've never been so close to move from Wisla as this time.

Many thanks for the info, Grzeslaw. 'ambitious aims' is a nice way of putting it. And you would say 'why wouldn't I.'

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

Grzeslaw has already given part of the answer (as other Polish fans did), I'd like to add that Zurawski's transfer to Celtic is no. 1 football story of the past several days here in Poland. Everybody here is very excited about the perspective, and I'm sure Celtic is considered the best choice for Zuraw.

To make Scottish fans more familiar with Zurawski it is neccessary to say that he is NOT ONLY a striker, a person to finish off the situation, but also he creates many chances for his team-mates. He was 2nd best in assists in Polish league this season, he is good at dead-ball situations (regular penalty taker - club and national level), he can score from free kicks (as well as from the corner kicks, i.e. Northern Ireland - Poland game) and he passes the ball very well. He's not Diego Maradona, that's for sure, but he is a player of very high quality. Let's give him some time, make him more self-confident in the new surroundings and I tell you that: Rangers won't gain a point against the Bhoys next season...

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

From setanta.com (for polish guys, its our tv broadcaster for the SPL) this evening.

Maciej Zurawski has given his clearest hint yet that he will sign for Celtic from Krakow this summer, admitting he is only now thinking of the Scottish club.

The 28-year-old Poland striker had seven hours of talks in Glasgow earlier this week - but left his future up in the air, claiming he would not make a decision until next week.

Now Zurawski has told the Krakow club website: "If it happens (the Celtic move), it would be the best for the club.

"I am not looking too far forward and am thinking only of Celtic.

"It is a great city and a great club. They have another culture of life with big shopping centres, big markets, it's a big city.

"I was very impressed with the stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 people."

Polish fans, do you see this as significant and encouraging??

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

Hmm, same story but with more quotes and it sounds sligthly different here...the waiting is killing me :31: (from soccer 365 btw)

Zurawski keen on Celtic move 24/06/05

Celtic target Maciej Zurawski has hinted he may soon be signing for the Glasgow club.

The Poland striker met with Parkhead officials earlier this week before returning to his home country. The 28-year-old admits he has other options to consider but insists a move to the Hoops would suit his Polish club.

Zurawski said: "I am not looking too far forward and am thinking only of Celtic. It is a great city and a great club. They have another culture of life with big shopping centres, big markets, it's a big city."

He added: "I was very impressed with the stadium, which has a capacity of 60.000 people."

However, Zurawski admits he has other options to consider with Austria Vienna and Trabzonspor also in contention for his signature.

He said: "I didn't sign anything but I got proposals from other clubs too and I must think before saying what I will do."

Wisla are still trying to keep Zurawski on board but have yet to make the player a new offer.

Zurawski said: "Until now it has been quiet but I will meet the owner soon and then we will talk."

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

I read this interview on wislakrakow.pl and here's what he really said: ;)

    What are your first impressions?

Nice city, nice club. You can see it's another culture of life, Glasgow's a big city with quite a big shopping centre but they surely don't have a marketplace like the one in Kraków. Of course, the stadium is impressive as well - 60k people on every match is not bad.

Fans say Celtic is your best option, better than Austria or Trabzonspor

The best club would be a club I would play my best games for. Is it going to be Celtic? Of course, the name sounds good but is it going to be this club - we shall see.
