They are so crap they should be in a stable with Cena :bbpd: But no honestly they are * useless.

 

Following the respective deaths of WCW and ECW in 2001, WWE had a problem.

WWE had a lot of wrestlers under contract and not enough TV time. Granted, it’s not a bad problem to have. But for a couple years, nearly every wrestler in the country could only make a full-time living from Vince McMahon.

So, WWE decided to split the company in two with something known as the brand split or brand extension. Raw became the exclusive home to half the roster, while the other half lived on SmackDown.

If you wanted to see The Rock, you’d watch SmackDown. If you wanted to see The Undertaker, you’d watch Raw. That’s the way things were, and fans grew to adapt. On rare occasions, WWE Superstars would show up on the other brand. These moments felt like a big deal.

Over the years though, the distinction between the shows softened. Guys would jump back and forth with no explanations. The company got lazy.

Eventually, the concept was scrapped. The rosters merged, and the ratings have continued to slide. Now, in an effort to boost those ratings again, WWE is looking at bringing the brand split back.

With SmackDown moving to Thursday nights next week, WWE wants to make it a “can’t miss” show again. One major idea that has been seriously talked about is a “soft” brand split, where some WWE Superstars—not all—would be exclusive to Raw or SmackDown.

WWE officials are working out the details on this proposed idea and it should be known soon whether they will actually go through with it.

- As noted, Jerry Lawler will begin calling SmackDown with Michael Cole and Byron Saxton next week and the new RAW announce team will be Cole, JBL and Booker T. Apparently WWE officials have wanted to remove Lawler from RAW for a while now. Officials reportedly wanted to take Lawler off RAW for "a long time" but figured they couldn't after he had the heart attack. The new SmackDown relaunch is giving them the chance to make that change.

New announce team on Raw will hopefully freshen things up for a while, with Booker being there permanently.

I liked Lawler as a heel announcer and when he was less restricted without the PG rating, but his face run in the last few years has been rather bland and his best days were when he was alongside JR every week.

- During the TNA Lockdown tapings in New York City, Jeff Hardy took a very bad bump from the cage and apparently was knocked out backstage after the match.

Seen in the video at the end of this post, Hardy was knocked from the top of the cage door to the steel steps outside of the cage. He finished the rest of the match but was helped to the back by officials. A fan in attendance noted that crew members and Jeremy Borash were overheard saying Hardy was knocked out backstage.

- There has been talk backstage about how the scripting of Roman Reigns' promos have put him in "quicksand" and aren't helping him.




- Within WWE, there has been a lot of talk in regards to the manner in which Roman Reigns' promos have been scripted as of late. Dave Meltzer reported Wednesday in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that many people in the company are under the impression that Reigns' promos have put him in 'quicksand' and aren't helping him reach the next level at all.
After comparing himself to Superman on Raw, Reigns delivered another cartoon-inspired promo on SmackDown while speaking face-to-face with Seth Rollins. Take a line from Looney Tunes character Sylvester, Reigns said "Sufferin' succotash." Regarding this, Meltzer mentioned on Twitter that Reigns' promos are being scripted by Vince McMahon.

He's only Working Live Events this time around.

Former WWE creative team member Brian Maxwell Mann revealed on Twitter
that Daniel Bryan’s character was going to come out as gay during his 2010 storyline with the Bella Twins.

According to Mann, WWE and the USA Network wanted to portray a positive gay character and the whole Bella Twins “love triangle” angle was going to culminate with Bryan telling them he was gay. No word on why the angle was scrapped, but after Bryan turned down their advances for months, WWE eventually settled on Bryan dating Gail Kim instead.
