Gordon Strachan has made his first official move in the transfer market with a £2million bid for Maciej Zurawski of Wisla Krakow.

The Polish striker is in top form and has already stated in the media he would love to move to the Scottish giants.

And Wisla President Janusz Basalaj said earlier today: "We have just received an official offer from the Scottish club.

"Celtic has presented their proposal and we have launched negotiations."

Strachan has had Zurawski watched and is hopeful of getting the player on board quickly.

But Celtic fans will be concerned that this might mean a move for Welshman Craig Bellamy is becoming more and more unlikely.

Newcastle want at least £5million for the unsettled striker although Celtic aren't prepared to match that valuation.

Meanwhile, defender Joos Valgaeran has signed for FC Brugge on a free after his contract expired.

The Belgian will be returning to his homeland after Martin O'Neill brought him to Glasgow 5 years ago.

Neil Lennon though is going nowhere after agreeing to sign a one year deal which will probably see the Northern Irishman into retirement.

Why Zuraw didn't sign contract with Celts (yet)? Because Trabzon offered Wisla very good fee (3,5m) for him & 33yd defender (Klos) at tuesday. Zurawski has dilemma now... Choose Celtic and has very good solary - 1,5m euro per season (in Cracov he has about 220k/s) or play in one team with his best friend (Szymkowiak). The question for me is: What contract must be offered by Turks to Zuraw would like to play for Trabzon? 1m? The sports level both clubs is nearing. What will be chosen by polish striker? Cash or friendship?

New interview with Zuraw from Gazeta Krakowska (local Krakow newspaper - usually they have the best sources in Wisla): http://krakow.naszemiasto.pl/wydarzenia/490414.html

Generally - Zuraw is in Krakow and he takes it easy for a couple of days. He said that this is one of the most important decissions of his life and he wants to think about it for 3-4 days and talk it over with his relatives. He also said that he was happy with Celtic's offer and now it is for the clubs to talk to each other. One of the problems seems not to be the price for Zuraw but whether Celtic will pay it all at once (Wisla of course wants this) or whether they will pay in several installments (Celtic wants to cut a deal here).
Zurawski said that he will not say publically where he wants to go the most and will wait for the teams and Wisla to go forward with negotations. Trabzonspor has not given up yet and has upped the price. As Zurawski said - Wisla now may use the opportunity to negotiate a better deal since they have now two committed sides.
So basically Zurawski now waits for Wisla's green light. He also said that he definietly wants to try his luck in a strong club in the West (not sure if he means it literally - or he just means it outside of Poland - coz. Trabzo isn't exactly west of Krakow - but maybe that's an indication he really wants to play for Celtic).

I hope that - if he leaves - that he goes to Celtic. I love Zurawski and I always liked Celtic. I hope this will be a good match. And if he doesn't go to Glasgow I hope he will stay with us period - Wisla is already talking to a striker so they look like they already made the decission to let him go - which is only fair to the player - he made over 100 goals for us since he came. 120 goals in the Polish leauge in total and he is scoring well for the national team too. He is a goal-machine, but it is time for him to take it up a level.

I want to ask Celtic fans if there is a possibility to buy original Celtic`s shirt on-line with the player`s name (Zurawski of course:) on the back?

I've been already thinking about it :)
But we must wait patiently.Zuraw must first of all sign the contract.

If he had been born as a Czech,he would cost 100 mln Euro today...
The problem is our league is at a horrible level and even when there are really good, skillfull players playing in our league, the foreign managers don't treat them equal to players from western or even eastern Europe. That's sad that we've got only Krzynowek in Leverkusen and Dudek in Liverpool who play in the CL.I hope that Zurawski's transfer will change the perception of Polish players abroad.Maciek will prove that Polish players ain't inferior to western ones.

I recommend You also to download goals of another top-scorer from Wisla-Frankowski.
Together with Zurawski they are one of the best couples in the world-cup qualifiers and in the Polish league of course. In the last season they scored 49 goals together.

      here's an article about him:

Definite shade of Henrik right there. The video doesn't show off his talent in making assists though which was a huge asset of Henrik's. Another thing which we couldn't really see from the film is whether he's any good in the air...

If he can score free kicks like that, goals with left and right feet, and had arial prowess, he would be worth a fortune...

Maybe that's why he's only worth 2 mill...

ignormus BombJack... hes only worth 2mln because hes polish... if he would be a german, english for me he could be worth at least 5mln... Zurawski isnt only a striker but hes also a great playmaker, in polish league, this season he had 18 assists, for example watch this one from one of his last games, against groclin (3-0, 1 assist and 2 goals by Zurawski): http://s20.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2ATJ31FPHG4PF2V56LY320LPYR

This forum has been invaded and occupied by Polish fans. I get the impression we've made some mess ;-) Personally, I feel guilty. Why don't we invite our patient and hospitable Scottish hosts to discuss things here? What about this idea?
